When we purchased the house from my wifes grandparents the entire front of the house was overgrown with peonies. I transplanted a bunch in the backyard to try and save them when we built a deck at the front.
I transplanted these again in the spring of 2016 and they finally bloomed for the first time. I took the first photo Friday at lunch and the second batch Monday morning.
Three years, right on from what I've read about transplanting them. It sets them back and they won't bloom again for three years.
I see you spell it peony. I learned paeonie. Oban spells it peeonme.

Love peonies! When my brother was about 2 years old my mother found him out in the backyard eating the ants that were crawling all over the peony buds. I guess they were too tempting.

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

LOL Oban's spelling. eww eatting ants.
We had beautiful red peonies when we lived in VA, the flowerbed was up front under our bay window. I would open the windows and the scent would come through the house. Imagine my surprise when we moved here to find no one had red peonies and the nursery lady said they didn't have a smell. We ended up buying a couple pink and white, she was right they don't have the sweet smell as our ones in VA.

I love peonies. They remind me of my grandmother. She always had vases filled with ferns and her peonies.

Yours are so pretty! Mine did not do so well this year. Last year they did great. I have no idea of what I'm doing.

Gorgeous!
Beautiful! Like you, when we bought this house there were so many peonies, all along the side of the driveway. I've dug them, transplanted them, and on their own they have spread all over the place. I've added in a couple of newer varieties but the heirloom ones spell the best.
These are the ones that came with the house. BTW, the previous owner was a master gardener.
All the way down the driveway.
A newer one I bought called spider.
