I like The Defenders. I didn't get through all of Daredevil or even to the end of Luke Cage but I don't think it's necessary to have fun with this, especially with Sigourney Weaver doing the honors as the bad guy.
I am currently going through Ozark with Jason Bateman. A money launderer who moves his family south to repay a debt to a the cartel. Got me watching episodes back to back.

We've been watching The Fall. Not bad if you're OK with serial killer shows and can listen hard enough to get the British accents. There are 3 seasons available.
I often get recommendations for movies and other shows from the Watching section of the NY Times. Lets you know what's new to Netflix pretty frequently, too.

I am five deep into Mind Hunter on Netflix. It's about the two FBI agents in the 70s that coined the term serial killler and came up with "profiling". It's a little slow but picks up. If you pay attention to the first 10 seconds of each episode you will see that it it setting up for something.

Our Souls at Night is a solid character driven movie.
I watched that, having read the book and liked it a lot. That is, I liked the book a lot and had to see the adaptation, which I also enjoyed. Some reviewers weren't keen on Jane Fonda playing the lead, thinking she's too posh for the role of a midwestern widow or something like that, but I thought the casting was perfectly fine. Kent Haruf's books are lovely, character driven books, which is right up my alley, so I've read many of them.

I don't know if anyone has recommended Black Mirror yet but it's excellent and often disturbing. It's like Twilight Zone on steroids. The new season is starting soon. Every episode is like its own movie.
