We have an area rug in the living room and in the bedroom. Lots of throw rugs thru out because of having a senior girl. Otherwise its hardwood or laminate.
I do like (and have used) the more "natural" approach... baking soda (either plain or with cinnamon or essential oils added).
I've tried the Febreeze set & refresh products, but like most of those options its strong the first few days, then fades quickly.

Was just curious what others do or use to combat the dreaded "doggy" smell.

I use baking soda on carpets like Julie (BaconsMom) does as well.

I also run a humidifier at all times, and I put essential oils in the humidifier water... always smells like a spa and lavender essential oils keep my stress a little less ;-)

ok, it shouldn't smell. i have 3 dogs.
wash the bed covers weekly, wash your carpets often (even if no mishap) and i vacuum like a madwoman constantly. even got the stick dyson for much too much money because it's not like dragging around a big vacuum.
i hate the smell of fabreeze and really think it just exchanges one smell for another. i wash wood floors with vinegar and water.
i admit to being a tad bit OCD when it comes to washing the carpets but…..

i hear you. i on't smell anything in my ouse either but worry constantly that we are "nose blind"
i actually obsess about it a little.

we have hard wood floors so i'm sure the house doesn't reall smell doggy. but i totally feel your pain. i just clean as much as i can and use Glade plugins in outlets especially near the front door so if someone does stop by that's hopefully what they'll notice
i also light candles if i know that people are coming over
