Wow. The things this woman does are really OUT THERE. I would think that SHE needs to be the one to get some 'shock therapy'! Seriously, though, I certainly hope that this puppy is going to be alright in such incapable hands. I'm glad you're around, Bett. She's lucky to have your advice, even if she doesn't take it. Sigh .....

I don't have a problem with e-collars when used properly by people who know what they're doing. From what I understand they're very effective with training bird dogs for field work (pointers etc.) and sometimes with very stubborn dogs.

However, I see absolutely no reason why any 8lb lap dog would ever need one for training. Nor do I see this winner of a neighbor of yours using it properly. Her whole mess is just a shame.

I use an e-collar on my 8 lb dog for recall. No reason that, when used properly, that they can't or shouldn't be used on a small dog.

The "lap dog" mentality is what really gives small dogs a bad rap.

the thing is, i can understand the collar if training for an issue, but at this point, it's just for regular, sit , come, down, etc as she just got the dog, two weeks ago, from a pet store and he's 9 months old. no trying the old fashioned way of train and reward with praise , clicker or treat. just start right off with the collar. and another problem, is neither she or her husband will be able to coordinate the remote with the training so i fear a fearful ,crazy little doggy.

but, she tells me, the trainer said so ….. there is no thought of questioning it being done any other way. i'd wonder about the trainer. and by the way, they train, very often, if front of by floor to ceiling living room window, with eli screaming the entire time, till i remove him and lock him upstairs.

i asked her "did you see and hear eli, while you were training?"

of course she did and none of them thought maybe to move two doors down.

perhaps eli was their distraction that day. lol.

her husband is going away for "boys weekend" with the neighbor next door. and i 'm stuck in on sat waiting for whirlpool repairman.
cant hide, she sees and knows everything in my house as she's always out the window, peering, checking, seeing who is there and who isn't.
    just kill me.

Okay now that's just plain creepy IMHO. Call the cops on her next time she does it. Do you think maybe that would register with her? Just ask them to come out and give her a friendly reminder that it is inappropriate to spy on your neighbors, especially in the way she is. Frankly, it's none of her business. The things that happen outside between you and her are in open space. Seeing what's going on in your neighborhood or talking to the next door neighbor that's working in their garden is one thing. Peering into your house and invading your privacy is another. Dark blinds or draperies is the only other thing I can think of, but you shouldn't have to do that!

i cant call the cops on her but i can call her on it. i know them , well him , since i'm 16. we go waaaay back. when i was married to my first husband , he and his first wife ( a mean witch) , lived in the same building with us. i dated his twin when i was 16.

and the police here don't care if someone is terribly nosey. honestly.
and i will not put up dark blinds or drapes (and he does my blinds, lol) or close them. i am a let the light in freak , actually.
she is just a pita, and now i don't trust her ethics at all.

she was gonna stick me with an $1850 bill and pretend ……says it all, i think.
