I'm rearranging and cleaning the entire house top to bottom. I'm also on a purge so I'm dragging a trash bag around with me the entire time.
Last night I was in the basement, moved one of the freezers to sweep and found an egg. I have no idea of how old this egg was. We did lose a chicken in the basement at one point for a few days but I can't remember exactly when that was. Tossed the egg into the nearly empty trash bag and BANG! That thing exploded like nothing I've heard from an organic object before.
My husband was in his office directly overhead. When I came upstairs he told me he thought he heard a gunshot. That thing was loud.

You are so lucky it was in the bag. I bet it stank to high heaven.
Glad it didn't explode sooner and you wonder what that awful smell was in the basement.
Long ago when we had chickens they were free range. They were generally good about going into the coop to lay but every once in a while I'd come across an egg in the yard. It immediately went into the trash.
Very cool and very nasty at the same time. Lol
