Oh wow that must hurt I really really hate when people break leash laws or rules, it's always the people and dogs who abide them who pay it seems
This weekend we were away camping with Cooper at my brothers seasonal campground which has a "dogs must always be on a leash rule". My sister-in-law and I were on an after dinner walk with the dogs, Cooper and his fur-cousin Maddie, when an unleashed dog (Lab/Golden mix) came running off of a campsite and spooked the ever cautious (when meeting new dogs ) Cooper, who quickly backed away and tried to get behind me. The owner came running out to say don't worry he is a gentle dog and after a brief conversation took his dog and went back to their site. It was then that I felt this horrible throbbing in my finger. I passed Coopers leash to my sister in law and had a look....my finger was already swollen and boy did it hurt. I spent the evening icing the finger and by the next morning it was bruised and looked like a sausage roll (my daughters words lol). Long story short...I have a spiral fracture of my baby finger on my left hand

That is so true, I usually scan around for loose dogs, but my sister-in-law reassured me that the campground was quite strict on their leash policy. Turns out the gentleman who was with the loose dog, was dog-sitting and not the owner, so perhaps he didn't really fully understand the rule. Unfortunately for me, I may miss up a few weeks of work because my finger is in the splint and I work as a nurse and there is no way I can keep my hand clean or wear a glove on it. Thankfully Cooper is fine, he was attacked and bit by a loose dog in a campground when he was young and is still nervous when a dog comes charging out at him. It usually takes him a few minutes to warm up to new dogs and doesn't like them coming at him at full speed until he knows them.
On a positive note he loved swimming, hiking and play time with his fur-cousin this weekend
Oh no - poor you! A very similar thing happened to me when Duchess was rushed by two dogs - my right hand, ring finger, spiral fracture. it took weeks for it to heal properly and even now I get twinges when the weather changes. I wear my grandmother's wedding ring (very old gold) on that finger now and it really helps with the pain.
I had mine splinted in a curve, not straight so it is more natural. I also had hand therapy.
I hope your little finger heals more quickly than mine did! Keeping you in my thoughts.

Prayers to heal quickly. People should follow the rules no matter how well behaved their dog is.

OUCH! Happened to DD when she was holding Quincy's collar and it got twisted. Ended up having to have a pin put in to hold healing position.
Sending healing thoughts. It's not fun.
hope it heals quickly! I've never heard this before but from the responses it seems like it can happen. Did your finger twist around the lead?
