    Update with contractor

ok, so i guess everyone knows that thurs i let the gc know my displeasure when he arrived 2 hrs late, and didnt text or call.
noe, the actual worker was here on sat and sun working away. he does beautiful work.
the other partner, texted me, asking for more money on monday. sure. no problem, and a contract would be special too.

monday, chris , who i let know how pissy i was at him, arrived at 3 on the button. funny, when they come for money they are right on time. he walked in sheepishly, and i said " let's look at the list i have that still needs taking care of". ok, no problem, i give him the money and have him sign and he's ready to go down into the basement and see the progress and i say "chris, come back and sit down. we need to talk. " ok, he was now in the principal's office.
basically this is how it went: i reiterated that if you are going to be late, text or call me. i may not be happy if the contractor isn't coming but don't leave me hanging. and then i told him that he LIED to me and when he went to open his mouth, i said "don't bury yourself, just listen". i then told him how noe never showed up and when i texted him and his partner, they said they didnt know where he was a couldn't find him. LIE. without them knowing, the next day, nick asked noe where he was and he said "he got stuck at the other job". ok, not his fault. another time, chris told me that he had lunch with noe, and that Noe's wife called, upset that something happened with one of his kids. umm, the next day Noe came in practically whistling dixie, happy as a clam. nothing happened then either, another LIE.
chris listened and i said "in order to really be a good liar , you have to be very smart and remember each lie you tell" . you lied, you know it and i know it, so don't even attempt to say a word.
and then i told him that all the stuff from the pod, now in my garage, needs to go into the closets in the basement by next week the latest. whether the closets are painted or not. work around it. nick is having surgery, vette needs to be inside, and the generator moved into position, etc. oh, silly, no problem, painter is supposed to come today, at the end of the day of course, to prepare for painting.
the floor guy seems to be a problem for them to hear from so i intervened and he said he would call contractor as that is the very last thing that they need to fix in order to get the rest of their moola.
oh, silly me, no problems. i told them, i only care, right now, about getting the stuff into the closets and moving two pieces of furniture from upstairs into the closets.

they are pretending that this will all be done and it will, if i have to put all the crap in the closets myself, and then i will tell them they can deduct that from my bill.

anyway, chris thanked me for the chat as he didnt want it to end poorly.
don't lie and it won't end poorly stupid.

I'm not sure how you have the patience to go through this with these guys. I think if it were me, I'd fire them and hire someone else. I mean - could anyone really be any worse?

Sorry you are going through this. Hope Nick's surgery will go well - thinking about you!

it actually could be worse.at least the guy who does the actual work is talented, pleasant and cleans up.and i do remember that these are the same guys who came 30 minutes after i called them, and worked past midnight, trying to dry out the basement. so, while they do test my every nerve, they are better than most. having used a contractor for my kitchen twice, and both bathrooms, i see the difference. sadly, they all lie but at least i think they will finish the job. and do a good job. it's just the BS i cant stand.

Well, at least you have the "Come in to the principal's office" speech down pat! I think they'll be listening to you now and more respectful. No more lies, I should think.

    Good grief! What a mess.

We just had a plumber come in and make a mess of things and all I kept thinking after reading all of your updates was, it really could be so much worse. I am sorry you are going through this. I don't know why people don't take pride in their work anymore. Very frustrating.

they seem to be hustling now and trying to get the cement guy back , as they scratched the floor and are going to take care of it. only thing is, the cement guy is a PITA to get hold of, tho, i am a pittie and now just sent him the GC's number. they know they won't get the last few grand till the floor is done, and the floor is the last to get done.
    electrician and painter working now.
isn't it a pity that they just couldn't get it right and had to bs me.

Business must be good to handle customers that way. We are thinking of redoing the basement and with Bill's work schedule we might be hiring some help. I will give them more than adequate time to complete a job but if they go over, I start deducting from them.

Next month we have new windows going in, those that did not get done a few years ago. Had to do that in stages they are so expensive. They called today to schedule the install. We'll see how it goes.

i went down to the basement and don't like the lights. not enough light in my opinion. think they used too small high hats so i will call gc this morning and have other gc (chris ) call me and get over here before electrician continues the work. we had UMPTEEN CONVERSATIONS about the lights so…..
    not my problem.

    lights fixed.

    basement looks pretty.
fri we load all the crap (not really, as i am throwing out stuff) into the newly painted closets.pantry.
floor guy is making contact so he can redo the scratches.

sept 9 is nick's surgery. and i don't care when the very finish is. tho it looks like it might be sooner than later.
tell me again why i need more space to live in?
oh yeah, in case my grandchildren want to hang here, and watch the 55" t-v.
    ok, got it.
