i'm like the rest - i normally mix by hand for small jobs, i do have a wimpy little B&D Gizmo cordless wisk/immersion blender/beater, but if it needs more than my hand or that little genius, then out comes the stand mixer (which is a rather dated Oster Kitchen Center with the food processor, food slicer-shreader, and blender all in one, not the best at any of them but adequet and takes up a lot less space than 3 or 4 appliances do)

Now this is embarrassing! LOL, I bake a lot but I'm not a fan of small appliances with whistles and bows, I like things plain, simple and CHEAP! I have a Sunbeam stand mixer, it's 30 years old, not fancy but it handles bread and everything I have ever used it for and I do have a hand mixer, I paid $10 for at Home Depot, just a 5 speed Proctor Silex, I use it at least 3 times a week, it is 20 years old now. Seriously, with a man in the house that thinks every thing can be washed in the dishwasher, inexpensive is a better way to go for me. My husband put my electric carving knife in the dishwasher, the whole thing, not just the blades, needless to say it never worked again. My son thought I would like a KitchenAid mixer and the attachments, little did he know I had one years ago and I hated the thing, it was too heavy and took up lots of space, don't miss it one bit.
I pay very little attention to reviews, I look for recalls and complaints, then go from there. So now all of you know just how frugal and a tight wad I am!

Ended up ordering the Cuisinart from Amazon. As long as it fits in the same drawer as the old one and works reasonably well, I'm happy.

Marmot, no problem with being frugal. I do have a stand mixer but it's home is on a shelf in the basement. Just don't have the room for it in the kitchen even with all the new cabinets we put in.

LOL, my stand mixer is in the built in appliance garage, took it out last week to make moon pies, slid it back as soon as I was done. The hand mixer is just much less work and a time saver.
