    Hand Mixer

Know this came up in the past but could not find it; maybe before the crash.

My 20+ year old Black and Decker hand mixer is going downhill. I love it, light weight, easy to store, efficient. Don't need anything heavy duty, have a big mixer for breads, thick dough, etc.

Went to Amazon looking for another and the reviews are not good at all for the newer Black and Decker.

So what do you have, why do you like it?

Hand mixer? I equate Kitchen Aid to the bigger appliance. If a hand mixer, how is the weight?

20+ years is great! I would love to have a Kitchen-Aid stand mixer, but I'm too cheap When DH and I got married 5 years ago we had 2 hand mixers. Both were probably bought at WalMart. His had more attachments, so we kept his. So, it's older than 5 years and it's working fine. We're not heavy duty mixer users, so the "middle of the road cheap" is fine for us. I made some molasses cookies last weekend that were just yummy!

It's a kitchen aid professional 600. I got it when I was working through the awards program. 2004-2005, somewhere around that time. Still works great.

Our hand mixer is a kitchen aid too as well as our blender- some from the work thing, some were bought.

Mine is a zillion years old, mainly because I rarely use it. In 2009 Cook's Illustrated selected a Cuisinart and a KitchenAid as their top-rated hand held mixers, the rest were not recommended or recommended with reservations, including a B&D power pro.

Top one was this: Amazon.com: Cuisinart HM-70 Power Advantage 7-Speed Hand Mixer, Stainless and White: Kitchen Dining ~2 pounds in weight. Price is down $10 from what they said in 2009 and free shipping if you have Amazon Prime.

Second rated was this one, but the price has gone up by $20 not counting shipping. KitchenAid KHM9PWH 9-Speed Professional Hand Mixer, White: Kitchen Aid Hand Mixer: Amazon.com

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Not much help for Fran's question as I usually use a fork or whisk. If I need more oomph I break out the stand mixer.

My DW requested a mixer for mother's day.

Found on ebay where kitchen aid was selling refurbished units for a great price. The listing said it was all steel, been quite happy.

I brought it up at one point and wound up buying another Sunbeam (with power boost) but I remember that a lot of people had recommended Cuisinart.

I've probably had it for a decade but I've been very happy with my Krups Powermix. Not to heavy and does the job. My favorite, of course, is my Kitchen Aid stand mixer.
