I don't think you're cheap. It's just hair.

Not cheap at all; I do the same thing: safety razor twice a week - saves both money and time and it makes me feel really independent

Your not cheap, if you can do it and are happy with it then I say go for it.

I'm the barber here, even my sons still come home to get their hair cut, and I've been doing it for years. I don;t think you're cheap, your like me, thrifty and conservative. #3 on the top and #2 on the sides is the favorite length here.

Not cheap. Thrifty! DH used to go to the barber but now just shaves his head. He felt it was a waste to pay someone to cut such a little amount of hair.

It's good to be cheap, if you can I think. Not sure if haircuts are something to skim on though. My haircuts cost $35 plus tip it ends up being about $42. If I could cut my hair myself and it looked good I probably would! My brother has his wife cut his hair...she hates it and would rather he got it done by a professional He's got a big scar on his head from a war injury that he likes to stay hidden under his hair and its hard to cut it right.

More likely frustration has led to practical frugality, I think. I hope you wear a big floppy brim hat outside though, to protect from the awful sun in your area.
I went the other way, I let mine grow out and now have it in a ponytail. Hmmmm, you could have done that too. My hair grows really quickly. I'd colour and one week later the girls at work would tell me my roots were showing. Why black roots on blond hair are acceptable but white roots on black are not I don't know but it's not fair. I like my hairdresser and she can handle my thick, wavy hair well but the nice cut she gives me looks nice for less than a week and then it's gone shaggy somewhere. I got fed up and let it grow so I can just pull it back in a clip, at least it looks neat if not very stylish.

I haven't cut my hair in over a year. I just let it grow, and then donate 18-20", then grow it again. I feel like that makes me sound really gross.
I also don't dye it or highlight it so I don't need any fancy hairdresser stuff. I have no idea what I will do when I start to go grey.
My husband on the other hand, gets his cut at the stylist's or barber every 10 or so days.

To each his own.
I get my hair cut every other week for about $25 each time including a tip. Comes with a scalp and shoulder massage. And girls in yoga pants.
If I have to give it up there will be gun play.

Not cheap at all. I am always looking for ways to save money. I haven't had a haircut done by a professional for years.
