    Paint!

DH and I painted his office today! We used Sherwin Williams HGTV Home (zero VOC) latex paint and are soooooo happy with it! We did 2 coats, eggshell, and it looks supremely fabulous. It went on so smoothly, had NO smell, and dried really quickly. They had a 30% off sale until today, so we went with SW instead of Benjamin Moore. They weren't have a sale ;-)

So if anybody is looking for a new paint, we loved it.

    What do y'all use?

Good to know! I've always used Behr but we've been on a pretty strict budget until this year so I'm looking for what's best now instead of what's decent but cheap.

We just finished up a bath with Valspar's low VOC variety. The low odor was nice but it still took 2 coats.

No matter the brand, it always seems to require 2 coats. I'Ve used Berh, Ben Moore, Sherwin they all seem about the same.

I find a good brush makes a huge difference if I can't use a roller.

Can just imagine it makes a world of difference.

We've been using Behr semitransparent stain on the shed. Almost done and ran out so went back to get just a quart. Wouldn't you know it, it's only sold in gallons and small sample sizes. To get enough in sample size, it would cost more than a gallon. I'm going to have so much left over.

We are cheap because we are planning on selling our house in the next year. We painted our top floor with the mid grade home depot brand. We got great coverage and we could get it in bulk at a decent price. Once we move into our dream house in the country with land, we will definitely go for behr.

We used Sherwin Willliams paint when we built our house. We painted on bare drywall, so we have one coat primer and 2 coats paint. It was a good paint and went on well. We also use good brushes and it really does make a difference.

I was trying to decide between a couple of colors and so I had them tint a couple gallons of primer. The primer color was a little different, but close enough for me to choose. Then we got 20 gallons and painted until or arms almost fell off! If you're going to use a primer, I do recommend tinting it.

Used to swear by a brand called Para, not sure if its still around, or if it was ever available in the US. It was only at the hard-core pro painters' supply places. That stuff was bulletproof, and often the 2nd coat wasn't really needed. I also stuck with alkyd paint until doing some of the rooms in the current house. It just seems to last much better. But now you can't really find alkyd in regular interior paint finishes, plus i will admit the latex paint has gotten much better than it was 14 years ago. The last painting done at home i used latex, that was 6-8 years ago.
