    Just a Blah Week

So this past week has been quite hectic and quite shitty for me.

Ok for starters i work in retail and right now everyone is stressed and busy because it's between seasons right now which means we're trying to clear out our old stock to make room for our new stuff which also means everything is on sale = busy. The store is packed with all sorts of people and tourists asking all sorts of stupid questions and everything is disorganized and an all around mess.

Tuesday i got in to a minor argument with my manager over a power struggle involving another co-worker. In the end we came to an understanding some what but it made the rest of the week a bit dicey.

Then on thursday which was supposed to be my day off i filled in at another store. About an hour after getting there i had my wallet and cellphone stolen from the backroom by a customer. Thankfully i didn't have any credit cards in my wallet or any cash except for small change. However i did have a few blank cheques, debit cards, ID, SIN card, Carecard, and various other cards.

Then my phone as well. I had just replaced and upgraded my phone barely a month ago as well because my previous one had stopped working.

Then on friday at work they announced that there would be a switch in management.. and our manager would be transferred and we're getting a another one. Along with that we're trading a co-worker in for another which no one likes.

So i have a police report filed for my stolen stuff and i have to look into work to see if they have any sort of insurance for stolen property.

For the phone thankfully i had taken the advice of the sales person and had agreed to get the insurance so i will get a new phone for 150$ instead of 5-600$ HOWEVER in order to claim the new phone i have to apply for an insurance thing and they require 2 peices of valid ID. All my freakin' ID was in my wallet! I have a birth certificate and an expired passport. That's pretty much it. Soooo looks like im going to have to try to get a new provincial ID and hope the ID peices that i can muster up will be enough and then wait for however long it takes for it to arrive in the mail before i can even apply for my phone claim. So i will be without a phone for a few weeks. Gah!

Also they don't cancel sin cards unless there is proof of someone else using it. Great... Everyone tells me that personal ID theft is a pain in the butt.... gah im trying to avoid this but it's making it hard. Also the bank wouldn't let me cancel the cheques so i have to call them tomorrow and explain to them that their tellers are dumb and that i need all my cheques cancelled pronto.

I have to go down to several government offices tomorrow which involve lots of waiting around and being around stupid people.

*Happy thoughts* *Happy thoughts* I can do this... I can do this... I can do this.

    Sorry just needed to complain.

Oh also i have a bloody toothache!

Also not to mention all this is going to cost $$$$ to replace which is honestly like the worst timing ever because i have so much crap to pay for right now.

Holy cow! Must've been quite a week; don't wonder you feel like complaining. Good luck with dealing with all the red tape involved. It'd drive me nuts - hate talking to all these government officials, insurance people... you name it. Sometimes I'm afraid we don't speak the same language! Fingers crossed M&M

Sounds like the week from he!!.

DD works in retail (Sears) and because of the huge upheaval in the corporation, it's been very difficult for her. She loves her work, it's all the political company crap that is driving her crazy.

Can't even imagine everything you're having to go through. Hang in there, it will all be straightened out.

Can you close out your bank account and open another one? Leave just enough money in the old one to cover any outstanding checks. Then the stolen checks are worthless.

Hang in there! I had my checkbook, driver's license and Am Ex stolen by a co-worker. She picked through my purse. Couldn't prove it, though. Canceling the card and working with Am Ex was easy. But the checks were the same thing you said. They couldn't cancel the checks before they were written. So, for each check that was written before I closed the account, I had to get a affidavit and have it notarized and present it to the bank. It was such a pain!

When I filed the police report, the detective told me that they were very smart. They used all the checks and credit card in a few days. Then never used it again. So, by the time I found it a couple days later, they were done and there was nothing to catch them at. They also didn't spend more than $1000 or so at big name stores, so it wasn't enough for the store to do anything about. Very frustrating!

Hang in there and think happy thoughts!
