Oh dear, I am tired reading everything you have done and been through. Your son is right, get out of the house, every day. Even if you just go for a long walk or sit whet he can't see or hear you. Get your home health aid set up, buy some good wine and fill your script for Xanax! You have to take care of YOU first to be able to take care of Nick. Sending you prayers and healing thoughts for Nick.

I hope you both find some kind of routine to work through this or there will be two patients.

all i can say, is i would never want to be a nurse..
this morning, after i nearly threw him out of bed, i noticed chocolate smears on the white blanket, and the sheets. need i say more?
i made him potatoes, cheese omelet and toast. told protein is what he needs. he dropped the fork, and eli grabbed it. ok , no biggie.
up and down and up and down and up and down and down to do the laundry.
walk eli , empty water (hate) and walk the labs.
get the dishes, help him into the bathroom, as he cant shower, but washes himself up and is disgusted that he cant get in the shower.
have to call cable vision as the box by the computer isn't flashing the right number of lights. i love that.
cristina coming over to convert his flip phone into an old iPhone 4 that i cleaned up and charged up.
now i need yet another shower.

ok, ok, not too bad. he went a few hours longer between pain meds as he didnt want to wake me at 4. not sure he would have been able to.

he has 3 bolts, not screws, not sure if there is a plate, his tibia was cut and used as the graft, fusing the ankle in a normal position with no movement but…..he's all wrapped up so i cant see more but i am praying when we go back thurs, the splint will be off and the wound will be ok, to put on a cast. then at least, i can get a chair for the shower and he can baggie himself up. thank god he wants to be independent and knows how to maneuver around. he spent more than 3 yrs the first time, in casts and surgeries.

ok, if i come back later i hope i won't be such a downer.
going to the basement to flip the blanket into the dryer and the sheet into the washer.
    fun!

What a routine. Don't exhaust yourself. It's good he not a wimp but being independent can be risky for him right now.

How about getting him a protein drink like Boost? There is a high protein version too. He needs that to help with healing.

For the urinal, like we say with all pee problems, use your Nature's Miracle, LOL.

Hire a high school kid to tote the water for you. Could also entertain and play with the pups outside at the same time.

well, i spent most of the day setting up an iPhone for him. spoke to the doc and can double the neurontin, which seems to aid the burning feeling. thurs they believe, fingers and toes crossed, they will cast.
contractors are here finishing up, everything except the railings.
i cant believe what i have ahead of me down there, but it will be a slow slow process. emptying the back room, putting racks and the crap that goes on, will be a task.
    slow and steady.
    i guess.

You have enough on your plate taking care of Nick. The basement will be there later when you have time.

    Healing prayers being sent.
