    i think I'm done

so my younger son had a big 40th bday bash for his friend since he was an infant , held at a camp in pa(i think). he was coming home this morning as his in laws need to leave and jack has soccer. i get a text, with a picture saying "i don't think it's broken" of a swollen, black finger. ummm, please.

so, i call, calmly or i would be in trouble for getting excited and say" who's finger is it, yours or jack's?". ok his, and he says "better a finger rather than a leg, at least i can work".

ok, cory, i say "do you think you can find time to get to a walk in med center so perhaps they can splint it?" as i feel my chest tightening . now really, it's only a finger, no bones sticking out, and i get it.

but i really don't think i can stand much more.

i haven't stopped all day. so now , I'm taking some time for myself, at the computer, while the wash is in the dryer and nick is eating his lunch.

Oh no! I hope he gets it checked out. Sounds like he broke it. Hope it isn't though and that he heals quickly for him and for you.

they seem to think it's fractured in two spots. i texted him to take care of it somehow tomorrow, or he could end up needed surgery. he's a big boy so i have to hope it gets done.

Rats! Hope he gets it tended to promptly. if for nothing else, his own comfort.

Time to stock up Nick's area, jump in the car and take off for a few hours. Give yourself a breather.

A long walk and / or ride with the dogs with a stop for ice cream all around usually makes moments like thise easier to take.

I'm still just cringing at the thought of a black finger...that just sounds so painful!! Was it a car door or some kind of sports accident?

And I agree. Go for a long drive and stop for ice cream.

Hope it heals well. Our son broke his finger and ended up having surgery because bone fragments splintered and had to be removed. I think the walk and an ice cream sound like a great idea. Good thoughts for his finger!
