    Technodummy Needs Help

Warned you all. I'm having a heck of a time setting up an avatar picture and sig picture. Thought I was doing it right but no go. I'm trying to use pictures from Photobucket.

Maybe a member or two with knowledge would be willing to build a sticky to help us hopeless dummies. Thanks.

Oh, and I can't find where to set my "emotion".

To set your emotion, click on your name to bring up your profile. Mood is underneath your name on the left. Click on the pencil and then on Default Categories to bring up the list.

To set your pics, click on your name to bring up your profile. Near the top in the blue bar, there is a My Profile list. Click on that and select Edit Profile. The options for pics are on the left under Settings. Just click on the URL in Photobucket and it will automatically copy into your buffer. Click on Edit Avatar or Edit Signature then click on the URL field and hit CTRL-V to paste the URL from Photobucket into that field. Then Save Changes.

If you click on your name then My Profile on the blue bar then select Edit Profile, Edit Signature is under My Settings on the left. It will bring up a window where you can insert pics and text much like the Advanced editor available when posting responses.

On my photobucket account, the URL is the bottom choice. The second to the bottom is an HTML. The one you want should start with [URL=

Save the photos to your harddrive and upload them to the site for your avatar and signature photos. It's easier. I think the emotion think was broken yesterday and I just fixed it now.
    Thanks Everyone!!

janedoe is definitely more knowledgeable than me I'm a technodummy myself, so I used my Profile Set-up for Dummies method:
    Went here first:

    Then here:

    And then here:

You can upload the picture directly from your comp if you comply with the size limit and Avatar was right there. Then I moved to working on my signature and went here:

    and here:

following the same method I used when uploading my Avatar picture.
I don't know, it might be more complicated, but it was easier and more straightforward for me and, most importantly, it worked Good luck. M&M

I kept having problems with URLs using photobucket, so I decided to got the wimp's way and upload the pics directly from my comp although I wasn't sure it was the best way. However, it worked and when I saw all those folks having probably the same trouble, I decided to share my experience

Anyway, thank you again for all your amazing work and the time you've spent to keep this great forum running.

Thanks all! Got the emotion set. Now to work on the sig and avatar pictures. Will take me some work. Was so used to how easy it was using Photobucket but if I can do it from My Pictures that would be easier. Besides, my Photobucket account is about full.
