Planning for holiday card exchange- suggestions welcome!

yes, yes, it's not even October and it's way too early to think about the holidays.

But it's not too early to think about planning for things that will happen before the holidays.

Last year I ran the holiday card exchange and would be happy to do so again. Given my experience and the Great Lab Board Crash, I suggest the following plan:

    1) Sign ups begin mid-October, end early November.
    2) Anyone with at least 50 posts can participate.
    3) Everyone must agree to send at least 5 cards, and will be guaranteed to receive 5*. (You can offer to send more, but I can't promise you will receive more than 5. Trying to keep the quid pro quo is what took me 4 hours last year)
    4) Everyone agrees it's okay to receive any kind of holiday card (Christmas, non-denom, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, it's all happy.)

*Caveat- if you are outside the US, there may be fewer.

    Feedback appreciated!

Yes, yes, yes! I love this part of the holidays and as you know, I decorate my Christmas tree with the cards.

Completely agree with starting early. It takes me forever to find the perfect card or get some made with a photo. You know, technodummy needs extra time.

I think the sign up sheet format you had last year was very adequate.

Thanks for taking this on again.

I didn't know about this. Sounds like a great idea. How does it work? Would I sign up with my name/address and then I would choose 5 off the list to send cards?

Everyone interested fills out a form. Then, I send you the addresses of the people you will send cards to. And last, you get awesome cards in the mail from Lab Board members! It's really fun.

    I'm a librarian so it's *very* organized.

Loved it last year! It was fun getting pictures and cards of everyone's dogs in their holiday best. I had all the cards displayed on my counter all season long and I still have a cool calendar magnet we received on the fridge.
