Give it time Betty. We are all thinking positive that it will heal, maybe not as fast as we would like it too, but it's going to heal. Your doing good, chin up

I hope it is healing the way it should. It seems to take so long for wounds to heal from the inside out so to speak. Such a worry.

I'm glad you went ahead and went out with your friends. You've apparently done a good job keeping from them how stressed out you've been. Maybe they can step up and provide more direct emotional or practical support. It's hard to do it all on-line and thinking there may be someone who can do a little more for you would be a good thought. You take on so much for others, you deserve a little kindness from them.

From experience, it takes a really long time for any wound to heal from the inside out. When my husband had his abdominal surgery, they left him partially open to heal from the inside out (also a way to hopefully avoid infection). We went through a wound vac, me packing with all different kinds of materials, drain tubes, etc. it took a good 12 weeks for all of the wounds to completely close over, and then there were still areas that needed to have gauze placed over them for seepage for a couple of weeks. You would be surprised at what you are able to do for your loved one. I could almost be and osteomyelitis/wound care nurse now.

One other thing, don't worry. If you have questions, call and ask. Things always look worse before they start looking better. I didn't take a starting picture, but the one about three weeks after we started looks horrible. Most people are completely grossed out by it. As long as the nurse is continuing to arrive and doing the cleaning and packing, it will heal. It will take longer than you want.

well, i emailed superdoc 1 in china, to tell him we have a appt with the plastic surgeon first, and then the surgeon, and it will be his first day back in the office so we may even see him.(while the limo bill grows).

he basically told me, as i tried to describe what i see with the wound that it takes two weeks to see any growth, and give him vitamin c. so…good, vitamin c was in the closet leftover from rex, and now, it's going to be for nick.

today is his birthday, but he wants no fanfare as my birthday was a few weeks ago and he didnt have a card because he needs be to take him to get it and i said "forget it". my good friends are bringing in dinner later, so that will be his company for the day.

the kids all called, grown and grands , to wish him a happy birthday and now he has a smile on his face so that's the good news for today.
today is my day out with the ladies, so he will have the pooches, and t-v. optimum, in their infinite wisdom, did some kind of update that forced me to curse very loudly as i had to reboot each cable box, by unplugging and then doing all sorts of things. two on the bedroom level, one two flights down in the den and the one in the basement, which has the box hidden in a piece of furniture. good thing he's a bit deaf because as i was laying on the floor figuring out which plug to pull, my back killing me, i was cursing up a storm

i do think i feel better knowing that there shouldn't be much change in the last week. the nurses did talk about a wound vac but according to drs he is no where near ready for that.

and oh yeah, i nearly got locked out this morning after i opened the kitchen back door, and locked the garage inside door. thank goodness the kitchen door was unlocked or i would still be out there, throwing rocks at the window. no hearing aids in for him and i would be screwed big time.

ok, that's the news for today, thanks for keeping in my loop and all the good wishes. i do think they help, at least me.

^^^ I have to laugh at the vision of you be locked out and throwing rocks to get Nick's attention!
I can so envision myself in that situation as my husband is also very hearing impaired.

You are doing great and I know Nick appreciates it!

It does take time for the wound to look better, but it is healing.

I've had to crawl into a window more than once. Of course, it was the bathroom and I'm landing face first on the toilet. That's when I really laid down the law on keeping the lid down.

Sending Nick more healing prayers. Hugs and support for you.

well, what the superdoc 1 told me, as that while he's on the bleach stuffing, it really isn't healing rather getting rid of that black , gross, unhealthy tissue. meanwhile, it shouldn't be getting worse, which the nurse is sure it isn't. the measurements of the wound are exactly the same.

they still haven't sent out supplies so i had to go racing to cvs to get more 4x4 pads, wrap and saline. of course , the saline presented a problem, and he told me it was a script so i whipped out my phone and showed him the wound. he gave me the saline. i was sorry to pull that card but they were making me nuts and i needed the saline because the nurse never told me we were low on anything. i just happened to check this morning before leaving at 9.
nothing like rushing your guts out.

so far so good. crisitina coming with john tomorrow for visit. I'm giving her the new laptop because nick has yet to use it , ask to use it or anything and she mentioned that she needs one for her older daughter. I'm sure this will be a fist fight but she is VERY good to me.
we'll see how that plays out.

meanwhile, nick eating pasta and chicken and I'm waiting for the railing to be finished in the basement, sectional downstairs , fitting ok, tho i had to move the chaise away from the rest of the couch. doesn't look bad and funky area rug in aqua and white from crate and barrel is the perfect size. all by accident i might add. ordered shades for the windows from neighbor alan who does that on the side. silver. he's trying to talk me out of getting it in the laundry room because i will see lint . is he nuts? if the dirt is there, it's there whether the blind is there or not so, I'm ordering it.

Saline is a prescription? That's ridiculous!
