today, nurses day off was my worst day. first do the dogs, run to audi where they had to reset some computer for the airbags, then off to dr david for more bloods.
then we wanted some recent pictures of the kids so i go to cvs. ok, no one there who can do it , but if i want i can come back 3 hours later. um,no. so i leave and call my local cvs which 3 months ago had broken machines and before i went there and got the same stupid story, i call. well, the machine hasnt been working right. yes, i know, and tell him how 3 months ago i got the same story, went elsewhere to print, then to art store to make a collage, wait the week, pick it up and give to jack so you mean in all this time it hasnt been fixed?

i tell him he ought to call corporate and while I'm on the subject of calling corporate i let him know i did last year because for the last 4 yrs no cvs in the town i live in, or two towns over had chanukah paper . not one god damn roll. i mean, we're talking about blue and white paper, not a big deal. i call corporate, get mushy talk over the phone and to my shock find out cvs is owned, out of mass. by a jew. shame shame shame on you.

anyway, i go home relatively stressed from rushing my guts out and get on the computer and call another cvs. yes, the machine works, and oh, yeah, while you're out can you pick up chinese food for me. forget the ham i rather have chinese food. ok, sure. go to cvs , he prints 2 pictures correctly and the other 2 the wrong size but i don't care anymore and just want out .
come home, sit down to have soup and nick didnt like my "attitude". so, put the soup down, went upstairs to shower because even getting up at 6 didnt give me enough time to shower before my day got started.

he decided, to plop himself in the basement , since i don't have den furniture yet, sprawled out on the couch. leg up? nope. in between doing the two washes i say nicely, here's pillows your leg must be up and i get LEAVE ME ALONE.
    ok, screw you.

i now have to call disability because the big $313. for 2 weeks hasnt come at all in nov. sure, they get back to me, and the paperwork that is sent it seems every single freaking month, was filled out by me, and sent to the surgeon but they never got it so i get it sent to me by email, call the surgeon's office leaving a detailed apologetic message and no call back but a two line email that she will take care of it tomorrow. now mind you, when i sent it, i sent an apologetic note even tho these are not my stupid papers.

then the mail comes and the plastic surgeon who billed $400. got all of $78. from my generous insurance so i call my union and say "what am i supposed to do now? do i pay him out of pocket? and what about the surgeon who billed more than 22 grand and got 11 grand? and what about every office visit where he gets pennies on the dollar? how long should he wait???"

i also call the plastic surgeon to explain i have a tiny check , will endorse and send but more moola is coming but of course, no call back there either.

ok, I'm nuts but smart and have a binder with every god damn bill and paper and form, copied and in sections. union guy, a smart nice guy tells me to send him copies of everything and they will pay and i should somehow only be out of pocket $1250. i separate the plastic surgeon's stuff, and put in an envelope. but by the time i got done copying (hate the canon copier like poison) i make double copies because i feel somewhere soon I'm gonna need them again. and now have to find a big manilla envelope because it weighs too much and is too big to stuff into an envelope. so, off to the post office i go tomorrow after i walk all the dogs, pick up my cleaning woman , at 730, who i keep, but she cant move or bend or clean but i have her for over 24 yrs and she's a good soul and honest and i just cant get rid of her, wait for the post office to open and have them mail this stuff so the drs get paid and the mail isn't in tanzia or somewhere else. and , i have to go back to god damn cvs because he finished his vitamin c and tho i thought i had more, i don't.

and i had to call to see what nurse is coming and i want them to come at 10:30 so i have time to get the tape off the wound vac, and i can soak the foam for 30 minutes in saline so when they take it out, it doesn't kill him. of course, those are the instructions but the nurses are so overworked they don't have time to wait 30 minutes and i do this so he does not have horrid pain, which he does even with 2 oxy. the day the vac is changed is not a good day. oh yeah and i have to call nursing back at 830 because they have no answer for me as to who is coming and if they can come at 10:30.

I'm stressed to the max , he doesn't think anyone other than him should be stressed and i had the balls to schedule eye surgery in dec because one eye is -275 and the other is perfect. a tad bit off balance and i cant drive at night in the rain without feeling that i am gonna run off the road.

how pray tell will i be on vicodin for 3-4 days and he do the dogs? i have to write out each herb for each dog, tho he knows the food, have to prepare eli's raw in advance (and hope he remembers when to take out the extra patties) and really, i know I'm rambling like a crazy woman but that's how i feel.

and somehow , he doesn't think i should feel this way. after all, it's his leg.

ok, i better not have a stroke and keel over because he doesn't have a clue about anything to do with money, bills, or insurance . nor does he have insurance on his own.

just let me run away. please.

Do not let anyone guilt you into not doing your eyes. That is something you need and it will make you feel better. Notice all the you's in there. Take care of you too

Gosh Bett, it just does not stop for you.

A thought, could you write out a daily schedule for Nick about the dogs, house, etc, when you have you eye surgery? Like a kid's chore chart. He could check off each box as the item gets done. Where appropriate you could remind him to take out Eli's food to defrost.

I've worked with insurance companies for years at different jobs and I appreciate what a nightmare that can be. Glad you have a representative you like and helps.

I don't use CVS for photos, use Walgreens instead. Is there one near you? For the past 5 years or so the same girl has helped me, super nice and extremely helpful for the technodummy I am.

So wish I was closer to help you. I can appreciate how Nick feels, in pain and down about being stuck in the house, healing seeming to go so slow, but I would not take guff off of him. If he kept it up, I'd put him in diapers and put him in his playpen for a time out. Just kidding, maybe.

    Take care of yourself. Hugs.

well, there is a walgreens and i will try them next. thanks for that.

i will make charts, one for me for my drops, and one for the dogs, their herbs ,etc. i am the chart queen. lol.

lovely susan the nurse came and i had time to medicate (one tiny oxy) and we took off the apparatus and i soaked the foam stuffed in the wound , for at least 30 minutes. and IT'S SMALLER AGAIN.

    this wound vac is amazing.
of course , i went out shopping for last minute things for thanksgiving even tho it's going to be catered, and came home to find that nick found his sneaker that has the roller sole (he thinks he invented it but the dr told him he didnt. it's for those who have a fused ankle) . i still think there's another one in the closet but snarky said NO, and has only his work ones . I'm gonna search because i have a memory of a new one.

of course, he wasn't told to bring it to the visit but he will have me schlepping that, along with the boot which doesn't fit while the vac is on. just keeps schlepping.

he has adjusted himself somewhat today, apologizing for "it taking so long" rather than being a dork yesterday (i don't want to say dork nor do i want to get thrown off ), so you get my drift.

and the guy helping me is from my retired assistant principal union and so far, that's who will be paying all that GHI isn't. and then i have some other insurance that will pay if there's more. i should only be out of pocket $1250 (got knows how they figure that) but I'm glad the drs will get their money, sooner than later.
that's what happens when you use out of network docs.
    had no choice.

Wound vacs are amazing. My dh had one for his wound, but after about 4 weeks his skin on his chest and abdomen started getting red with small blisters from the tape, so we had to stop using it and return to packing the wounds. Don't even ask. I think we did everything under the sun to help his wounds heal, and it took a good 12 weeks (maybe more) for his wounds to fully heal.

i am so glad the vac is working for you, and that nick is starting to feel better. Good luck with your eye surgery.
