    Seriously?!

So I have not been posting lately and I am sorry! I have been checking up on you guys every day though. Super busy with Christmas activities, baby and dogs.

I called my dad yesterday for our monthly phone call (he lives in the US so I never see him) and he dropped a bomb on me. They (dad, stepmom and sister) have a 5 year old goldendoodle that is a status dog and has a very lonely life. He LOVES being boarded since he gets more attention than when he's at home. How sad is that?!

Anywho, they are going to spend 2015 travelling all over, so the dog would be boarded all the time. This will be very expensive obviously. So he has asked if I would take him. Seriously?

First off, I have never met this dog.Secondly, I have two already and our house is full. We are renting at the moment and had a hell of a time finding a place for all of us. Adding a 3rd dog would not help matters. Thirdly, I will have a 1 year old by the time he would get here and will have my hands full with a toddler and my two dogs.

My dad is trying to guilt me into taking him but really. Is this my problem? I told him not to get a dog in the first place since I knew that this would happen eventually. Just shocked that it took five years.

Sorry for the ramble, needed to vent!

I feel so bad for the dog! To be honest, I would want to take the dog just so that it would get attention and be loved, but I would be so wary of taking in a dog that neither I or my dogs had ever met. I also dont have the greatest opinion of doodle mixes. I think this is completely up to you, and what you feel is best for your family, as especially your dogs and baby! With a new baby, I would say no, just because a baby and 2 dogs is already a lot of responsibility.

Would your dad be willing to turn him over to a responsible rescue? I know most breed specific rescues won't take a mixed breed but it might give the pup a chance to find a loving home that will want him to be part of their family. Also with a rescue you know most he would be neutered if he isn't already and found the right family to adopt.

No this is not your problem. I feel bad for the dog as well. Your hands are very full. When my mom bought a dog I asked her to buy me a certain breed. She said the dog was not for me and I said it would be. It only took her 3.5 months before I was aked to baby sit a dog I did not want. he was with me for 15.5 years.

Oh dear, poor dog. Time for him to find a rescue or responsible home for the pup. While I too am not a fan of deliberately mixed breeds, that dog deserves a good home and love.

You never see them because of the distance yet they are willing to make the trip (or make you make the trip) to give their dog on you? Is there no one else in their (local) life that can give the dog a loving home? Don't feel guilty and don't ride along with them on the guilt trip train! You have enough. Taking the dog out of guilt won't be good for anyone in your family. They can talk to the kennel they are so fond of. They may have some leads on good homes for this dog.

Thanks guys. And good idea CraftHer. I will mention this to him since the kennel workers know CJ (the dog) so well.

not your problem but i'd probably take the dog and then keep him. he may be a nice pooch. two, three, not much difference.
