It's not much warmer here in georgia. We don't get above freezing for the next few days with a windchill tonight/tomorrow morning of 0*.

An FYI, there are outside spigots that you don't have to turn off. It's got a long stem with the shut off spot inside the house. It looks like a regular spigot on the outside but the long stem puts the O ring inside the house where it is warmer. We've not installed them cause there is no way we would need the spigot until the spring; we don't warm up enough during the winter like the more southern states. Tried to find the name of it and believe it's called frost proof.

Woke to -20C, it's still -20C and it's incredibly beautiful. High pressure, blue sky, everything covered in deep white. The trail was groomed the night before and is good walking. Oban had to stop to chew snowballs out of his feet several times but we had a great walk. A couple of cm of new snow shows hardly anybody else took their dog out this morning. It's not as windy as predicted and most school buses ran. But we do still have snowsquall and windchill weather alerts. I probably won't ski though; it's really hard scraping the -9 wax I used yesterday off to account for -20 need for less and a harder wax.

ETA: Geez, apparently it's supposed to feel like -33C here. Doesn't, not at all.

We are at -13C (8F) and with the wind chill it feels like -26C (-14F). That' pretty dang cold for this part of Ontario, aka "the banana belt". Normals would be -8C to -1C (18F to 30F). Kendal just can't take the cold, in combination with the salt that's put on the roads, so our walks are limited to just a quick walk up the street staying on the grass, turn around and come back. At least the sun is shining! As long as we don't get an east wind our pipes should be safe from freezing.
I'm staying inside today and making some cabbage rolls and have butter chicken simmering in the crock pot.

just back from the training hall, and truck says -3 fahrenheit, latest weather report says -7 fahrenheit. thats without wind chill. wind has picked back up a bit, so would imagine a bit colder than that. we had alternating periods of sun, then flurries, then a very fine sparkly ice crystal thing happening. wasn't clear enough to be really pretty, but boy howdy did the snow squeak today! Scout was a three-legged then a two-legged boy, that was entertaining, poor guy! his paws just arent' used to that cold! Supposed to start a gradual climb to more seasonal temps for the weekend (highs should be around 25 or so, and lows about 10 or 12).

12 degrees F (-11C) here in my part of Maryland this morning. Chase loves this kind of weather, he says why would he want to sleep late? The snow we got on Tuesday is still powdery and schools are on a 2 hour delay. Hot beverage, please!

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”
