    Another finger injury...

This time it is my daughter that injured her baby finger by slamming it in a drawer, she is 15. It happened yesterday morning and I have been hoping that it would settle down, but it is no better today, she says any movement to the top part of her finger hurts...to the point she doesn't want to move it There isn't really a lot of swelling or bruising that could be seen last night, but she did have a bump on the side of her finger at the DIP joint.
After the fiasco with my baby finger and the inability of the small town Emerg Doctors in being able to diagnose/treat it correctly I am so not going that route again. I called my Hand Therapist and she suggests taking her to the Children's Hospital for X-ray and treatment if necessary. I feel bad going there with a baby finger injury.....but when I look at my own finger I see the reason why she needs to be seen.
On my way to pick her up from school and off we go.....

OUCH! Finger injuries hurt so bad cause there are so many nerve endings in them. Best to have it checked out. Could be a chip fracture.

    Thanks for checking up
The finger isn't broken thankfully, but she bruised the bone. She is managing quite well with the fingers buddy taped. Pretty much pain free if she is careful.
And six months after breaking my finger I have managed to get my wedding rings back on.....guess that means new ones are out of the question lol
    Have a great day!

Great update! Glad your daughter's finger wasn't broken but a bone bruise takes time to recover.

I am so thankful it wasn't broken too, although this seems to be almost as painful for her, but hasn't slowed her down in her texting any....lol

So I got a call at work today from the Doctor my daughter saw at the urgent care Clinic and apparently the Radiologist report shows a crack to the bone in her finger. She is now in a splint and will be seen again on Thursday next week
