Thumbs up The Cold to Beat All Colds

I am heading into about Week 3 of the worst cold I have had in years. The first week was an awful burning throat and nose symptoms. Week 2 wasn't so much burning as it was rough voice, constant nose blowing and sore throat and Week 3 is congestion still with a flemy cough that is really annoying. All of this comes with little sleep because of the congestion.

I have been whacked out on flu and cold pills, Night quill, tea and honey, bourbon and honey, vitamins, fruit and vegetables, emergen-c drink mix, cranberry juice and nothing helps.

Is anything like this going around in your neck of the woods?
    Thanks Everyone!!

Oh, yeah. I've been referring to myself as The Snot Machine. Doggone husband brought it home and shared it.

Using a Neti Pot a few times a day (esp. first thing in the morning and before going to bed) makes a big difference!

Fought though one like this a month or so ago. I'm sure the grans were the ones who shared. I found Mucinex helped a lot keep a check on the chest congestion. When not taking the Mucinex, took Claritin for the nasal congestion and Nyquil at night. Darn thing did last about 3-4 weeks. Ricola cough drops helped sooth the throat and helped with the cough.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

Not going around here, I hope. But I had one like that about 10 years ago and the sore throat was unbelievable. Hope you are better soon.

We got lucky this year. There's some low level thing we've been dealing with for over a month now but nothing like what you're describing. All good thoughts. Get better soon.

Not here, but I'm also trying to avoid people that are sick since I'm pregnant.

Yeah I got it, and was pretty much over it in 5 days. First thing when I felt it coming on was just get a ton of nutritious foods. Pure veggies full of vitamins. Oranges and so on but also fresh bell peppers as they have a lot of good stuff. Fresh tumeric root as it is a natural antiinflamatory and has a lot of other medicinal properties. Also Ginger Root is another that is a natural antiviral, so fresh hot ginger root and lemon tea. Also pumpkin seeds as they are great source of natural zinc. Day 4 hit me like a ton of bricks. I simply called in sick and let myself be sick in bed. I slept most of the day, much to Hemi's chagrin, day 3. Same thing just let myself be sick stayed home and in bed. Still eating really clean, and healthy. Day 4 feeling better, made sure I got plenty of rest and good food. Pumkin seeds, Fresh Ginger root, Tumeric Root, and high vitamins C and K foods consumed every day. Day 5 feeling great, occasional cough, and beating the cold.

You have to eat right and rest. Make sure your getting fresh clean proteins. Like eggs and milk.

Don't know if you are into Juicing, but I make a juice, this is 2 servings I have one a day. I usually blow through a cold pretty fast. I do make sure to get pumpkin seeds as I said one of the best natural sources of zinc.
    Fight a cold
    4 oranges
    2 large carrots
    2 orange bell peppers
    2 lemons
    2 inch piece of tumeric
    2 inch piece of ginger
