    And it's broken...

A week after taking my daughter to have her finger X - rayed (she closed it in a drawer ) I received a call today to let me know it is broken. She has a crack in the bone at the tip of the finger. She is in a finger splint and will see the Doctor again next week. I am concerned there is tendon damage as she can't hold the tip of her finger straight. I will ask she be sent to a Hand Specialist right away. I don't want her to go through what I have had to with my finger.

Ah rats! Good thought to get her to a hand specialist and get it fixed correctly now rather than having problems later on.

I have an appointment with my Hand Therapist on Monday, I will talk to her about my daughter then. My doctor gave me the run around with my finger. Won't let it happen again for sure

My daughter had her follow up appointment with our family doctor and her X - ray shows the break extends into the joint and she has intra-articular irregularity. She has been referred to a Hand Specialist (with my insistence as my family doctor wanted to send her to an orthopedic). We are just waiting to here about her appointment. She is splinted and buddy taped and pain free at the moment.

Sorry there are complications. Glad she is seeing a hand specialist, she'll get much better care.
