    Hpw far?

I took my eighteen month old in for Her routine check up and the Vet asked me how much excercise she got. This wasn't a comment about her weight at 66 lbs. she's a couple pounds shy of her ideal weight. The comment was because she was bouncing off the walls. I walk her 5 to 6 miles every morning mostly in the woods but I have no idea how far SHE travels. I would appreciate any educated guesses since I have no idea. Thanks for any help.

I don't know, but she sure looks like she's having a ball in those pictures.

Dallas will be 6 in April and she still bounces off the walls. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Hmm, sorta weird question coming from a vet who should know that alot of dogs, especially young ones, bounce off walls in a vet office. Its not uncommon at all for a dog to act up in a vet office. My 6 year old lab goes from very lazy and well behaved to a holy terror. She even jumps on the counters.

I cant really say how far your dog is going, maybe get a pedometer and see if you can get a good estimate

Lab pups can have an unending supply of energy, play, eat, sleep, repeat.

Please reconsider her playing with sticks, they can cause serious injury, possibly death if the dog picks them up wrong when retrieving.

Agree with all the above. But, if you are just walking along in the woods and she is doing her own thing to the point you don't know how far she travels (and that's what we do too) then maybe she needs some mental work. An obedience class so she learns to focus on you when she has to. I agree high energy excitement about meeting all the nice people at the Vet's is normal but she has to be under control. She has to sit quietly while you wait, hold still for an exam, be quiet. It's not fair to the Vet or other people waiting if she is literally bouncing off the walls. I'm taking you literally because I have seen behaviour like that at the Vet's. Some directed physical work, like agility or field training, would help too as with those she has to think about what you want her to do, not just do her own thing. Thinking is very tiring, as we all know from our own school days.
