Its with "loopy ewe". Ah, I'm not sure what is but she got a "camp loopy" T-shirt and has projects to do.

Ah, in all honesty, (yeah, az resident and all), I've never been to the No. rim or west. I have only been to the south so far, twice. In a few days I will go to the west and later this summer to the north rim, so I will get back to you on this, I promise. If you are planning on hiking to the bottom MAKE RESERVATIONS first and be aware that it can be cool on the rim and triple digit temps at the bottom. The rim is several thousand ft above sea level, I believe about 6k, and usually gets snow. The first time I went, it was snowing there in April.

My mother started taking us down South Kaibab and up Bright Angel from the South Rim when I was eight. After a few years we started hiking across to the North Rim and back in two days. I would not recommend hiking the Canyon at all if you're not in good shape (there's no one to help if you get in trouble). You can always day hike down Bright Angel for a few miles but take plenty of water and snacks. And don't hike down South Kaibab for a few miles then try to come back up. The trail is much shorter because it's much steeper. There is also no shade. I mean, no shade. People get into trouble very quickly.

In terms of views, the South Rim is always the best. However, it is mobbed now. Completely. It's kind of depressing. The North Rim is much better forested because it's higher up but you can't see much. There's a ranger's station a few miles down. They used to have lemonade. The hike is pleasant and the steak on the North Rim is good. All in all a good day but difficult to get to and, again, the views aren't nearly as good.

If I were going out there again, I would make reservations for Phantom Ranch a year in advance, take a shuttle out to the North Rim, hike to Phantom and spend the night there (it's a long hike but the grade is downhill). Stop at Ribbon Falls on the way. Then I would hike out Bright Angel on the South Rim the next day. There will be a ton of people starting at Indian Garden on out. Another good option is to go down South Kaibab early in the morning, stay at Phantom Ranch (and maybe hike out to Ribbon Falls) then hike out Bright Angel the next day. Again, a ton of people after Indian Garden on the way out.

If you don't want to hike, just be prepared for the crowds, especially on the South Rim. I cannot believe what has happened over the years. It's just insane.

The Loopy Ewe is a yarn shop that hosts Camp Loopy. It's a virtual knitting summer camp. There are 3 project challenges for a knitter to work on over the summer. Knitters have access to special discounts on supplies for the challenges. (Any reason to buy more yarn is a good one).
There's also a social online aspect to it, for those so inclined - not unlike dog forums LOL!

Lisa, I need you for my tour guide!
