    House Color Ideas

So, no offense to those that like yellow houses. I just don't. Yet I found myself living in one. I said to myself I would repaint it one day but there has been just so much other stuff to do the color of the exterior was one of the things to put on the to do list that kept dropping to the bottom. Well the time has come.

So I am looking for ideas on color schemes. I am terrible with Colors.

I don't have a really good picture of the front. Hence Google Street view giving me a nice late summer day before I trimmed the front bushes. Anyway you can see, yellow house, and shutters need some new colors. Maybe doors and trim too. The one problem is the roof. I have a really good roof, probably another 15 years at least on it. It's black, it looks gray in the picture but it is black. So need color ideas for house with a black roof.

    Anyone have some ideas?

I would do a dark tan with colonial blue shutters and a bright red front door. I love red doors!

I vote for a medium to dark gray with white trim. We have a natural wood door. With this gray, you can choose a variety of door colors. Here's a picture of the front of our house. We haven't painted the porch railing, yet, but you can see the white trim on the windows and porch posts.

I would do a light taupe with a dark taupe or even a dark grey shutter and trim.

Dark tan is the color of one neighbor and the house across the street and the other neighbor is Beige. So hoping to do something different but the blue shutters is a different idea. I might have to play with this in a graphics program.

I have no idea. Honestly. I get asked that a lot, when I try to do something, but no idea what those terms even mean. I know what I kind of like when I see it. So maybe mid 40's bachelor is my style?

Ok, I kind of like this, several people have suggested gray before, but I tried gray in a room once and it felt concrete like. Like my walls here concrete. However when I started looking up an example of Georgia's Colonial blue trim to try to picture it. I found some colonial blue houses, black shutters black roof and white trim with the wood colored door. I kind of like this idea.

My house is like the one you pictured but a little lighter in color. Trim is white.

When you pick a color you kinda like, get a small sample. Did this and discovered the color was way too dark so had Home Depot change the formula by going 50% lighter, then went 75% lighter than the original color. We don't have shutters, the door is a medium oak stain.

I'm a big fan of blue houses with white trim. I'd probably do a red door. Something like this:
