oh dear, yes, you did hide that well! tell him i hope he's starting to feel much better with that out, and i really hope they did take lots out so that they've got it all!
i hope you're doing alright with everything too, Nancy. if you need help, please ask, you're not that far away.
It's not that I was trying to hide anything. It's just what seemed to be a mere itch rapidly developed into a serious situation.
OH is tired. Partly from the ordeal, partly from the extreme weight loss. He did eat spaghetti for supper last night and tonight and the blender I bought for Oban's raw food made us some great strawberry ice cream last night. There are no dietary restrictions. He can eat anything he wants. Of course the catch is, after no or few meals for about three weeks he isn't able to eat much at a time. Sometimes he can only handle a couple of tablespoons. He is on antibiotics so his taste is off, not helping things. Good news is the plumbing is working.
The first CCAC nurse came yesterday. For heaven's sake, she looked familiar the minute she walked in. I already knew she was Scottish from her accent on the phone. OH was born in Edinburgh. Turns out she is the wife of a man in the same MNR office OH worked in. She and I probably met at Christmas parties, she thought I looked familiar too, but she didn't twig on OH's name. We played six degrees of separation with each new nurse and new hospital roomie.
The last roomie the connection was strong, OH and Eleanor hit it off. Yup, they mix up men and women somtimes. Eleanor not only is a retired RN but she nursed in the Emergency room at St. Joe's. She's about 80 and she arrived when OH was feeling pretty bad from a setback and she looked out for him. Sort of big sisterly. I'd hear her on the phone telling nurses to check on him, he'd said he needed something but he'd fallen back asleep. Not often you hug your hospital roomie good bye, I think, but there were hugs all around when Eleanor was discharged first. We are intending to visit her when we go back for that one last drainage tube removal, she lives on the way down for us.
Thanks for all the good thoughts and wishes. We are not out of the woods for sure yet but the going is easier now.
Oh, my--sending along many hugs, positive thoughts & prayers that your OH will be o.k! Please take good care of yourself, also, & keep us posted on how things are going.....
