Thought of you today, as I bought my first ears of golden goodness for the season! Mine came home unshucked, and will remain so until they hit the pot...
Drives me crazy, we have a local farm stand (huge, run by a family) and the amount of 'city folk' who come and peel the corn drive me nuts. I think it started with the 'worm' thing where they used to peel it back just far enough but now it's the whole ear. But maybe the farmers use it for compost or feed for the pigs or cows, not sure about that but will have to ask...And corn seems to be coming earlier even though we're upstate NY, I think they start some in some protected type of growing area.
