    forest fires, oh my!

It has been an interesting 4 days for us up here. We have a major forest fire burning 20 miles south of us. The weather is sooo hot and dry for up here that the trees are like bombs when the fire hits them. It has been pushed south by the winds but has occasionally been turned back our way by the wind. Then we had a fire start just a few miles north of us. they have them both under some control but neither are considered contained yet. All very scary. We are partly packed and ready in case we have to evacuate. Many have lost everything.
It's unfortunate we have a lot more of this unusually dry weather in the next 10 days. We are hoping and praying for no more wind! and no more dry lighting storms like started the fire close to our house last night.
It is a tinderbox up here right now. We are having 88-90 degree days. almost unheard of for this long up here.
I love the heat but sure hate the fires!
My garden however is loving this summer!
    Safe for now....

Saw pictures on the news last night. Very scary.

Please, stay safe. We've learned when DD lost her home to fire, things can be replaced. It's you and the family who are most important.

Sending good thoughts that all turns out OK.

You are so right! I had to remind my husband of that last night!
They have the closest fires contained and are having good luck with the big one just south of us. Thank God and all those amazing firefighters who came from everywhere!

So great to hear. Gosh, if you could only get some of the torrential rains that have been going on.

Please keep us updated. Want to make sure you all are safe.

the fires are now mostly contained although it is still really dry up here. Have a little rain in the forcast so hope it is enough to put out some of the MANY other fires burning in the state!
We are safe and thank you all for your concern!

So good to hear things are looking better. From what I see of the weather, you are hotter and dryer (definitely dryer) than we are.

Glad you're OK. We had a few in our area but it finally rained and rained hard so we're good.
