See, I'm sorry, but I don't think anyone needs to see that at a wedding. I am so unhappy right now. Just not a fan of medical procedures.

The most stitches I've had was the one on my shoulder, and that was 6. The one at my left temple was 3 or 4. Unless it's a massive spot, I doubt you'll look like Frankenstein!

You guys are all so brave! This all sounds horrific to me! I think getting my blood pressure taken hurts.

I had a basal cell removed from my nose. The initial treatment was an ointment in the hopes that the cancer threads did not run deep and the ointment would kill the cancer. Not so lucky in that, but I am not sure I would even go through dealing with the ointment over having them just remove it. The ointment cause this big huge scabby thing on my nose, and I didn't want to go anywhere. I had to go to a family Christmas, and the little kids were like...WHAT IS THAT???? Having it taken out was so much easier. A bit of numbing stuff, some pressure (cutting), and a few stitches later, and now you can only see the scar in the summer when I end up a little darker. Going in a few weeks to have another couple of spots checked and pretty sure one right near my nose and eye will be coming off.

Goodness, I didn't notice this was in the OT and didn't read it till now, thinking it was dogs and I have no experience. I wish you luck, it seems from comments you should have little to worry about. It sounds like you want to get out of that wedding? And this is not enough to do it?

My OH just had a little plug of black skin, looked like a bunch of blackheads, removed from his nose. It was just some discolouration and has healed up very well.

I have to comment on the ears. My sister is an RN and often works a Plastics Lab where such procedures are carried out. She has often remarked on the number of men who have suspicious spots removed from ears. She blames ball caps. What else could it be, she wonders? Women don't wear ball caps as much as men and it's men who have the ears with problems. She thinks the caps make the ears stick out a bit or, or, something.

I can see the hat/ear position thing, but it might also be the hairstyles. I now wear my hair behind my ears and make sure I goop up the ears with SPF. Bob doesn't tend to wear hats except for rain or cold but he tends to see the barber often enough to not have hair above his ears (that is, I make sure he sees the barber often enough...)

Thank you all. This thread really helped me out. I'm so glad I could get in right away to see the dermatologist. It turned out to be really funny.

She was just like, no. It's pre-cancerous and I would have had basal cell in 30-40 years (75-85 years old). But then it became a cosmetic thing. I mean I don't care but boy, was she a good salesperson and I'm insured. She brings in the liquid nitrogen container and it really looks like those old style oil cans and we start messing around with liquid nitrogen so I can see that it won't hurt that much and we're joking around and she takes out the thing on my face as well as a bunch of skin tags on my neck and my collarbone. It's all an angry red now and I kind of do look like a burn victim with Frankenstein overtones. They'll just randomly fall off now.

Anyway. I have a much better frame of mind and have opened a bottle of wine.

This is a timely post. I had a small biopsy last Friday and it's bcc. I'll have the rest scooped out on 10/30. It's a small place on my chest just below my shirt's neck line. My problem right now is where they took the biopsy is itching like crazy!

Oh...that's much better. I had two of those frozen off years ago. I can't see the spot on my cheek where that one was but the one on my shoulder left a white blotch.

So glad you had it done and it was quick. A little time healing and you're good to go.
