    Our October photo shoot

We're in a different setting for this shoot. We planted a tree for Faye's beloved Kendal.

The veterinary network that our vet clinic belongs to offers their clients a wonderful opportunity - plant a tree in remembrance of the beloved pet let go during the year. That's what we did last Saturday. We also had a stone engraved with Kendals' name and a saying; unfortunately it was not ready. The network cooperates with a local nursery to pre-select trees and the city generously allows the trees to be planted on public parkland.

So we met network staff and about 15 other people to plant trees. Faye chose a Canadian Serviceberry. It's native, an understory tree that is spring-flowering, bears edible fruit, attracts bees and birds, and has fall colour. It's not much to look at now. That will change as the years roll by.

Kendal lives on in our hearts and minds. Now there is a living memorial of his time here, one that will likely outlast us. We will visit it and take care of it as long as we can.

That's a great way to remember Kendal. For some reason I'm in tears just thinking how great your vet is giving you the opertunity to remember Kendal that way.

Best picture ever! A memorial tree has always been my favorite way to remember a passed furkid. Awesome program that your vet has set up.

We'll need pictures in the spring when the tree leafs out.

I can think of no other way better to pay tribute than planting a native tree. That's awesome! (That's what I'm doing when Opie leaves me). Great photo and thanks for the idea!!

As we replace the ornamentals in our yards we try to plant native or at least naturalized.

It is beautiful. It's also where the SPCA has their walk-a-thon, which Achilles and I have done.
