But take out pizza, Marco's all the way.
So funny, I just had Marco's last night! It's definitely our go to "fast food" pizza.

I usually make my own though. Super easy to whip up the crust and sauce either early in the day or the day before to allow enough time for the dough to rise and assemble later. I have two pizza stones one for the oven and one for the grill and a pizza peel to make transferring the pizza easier. Homemade pizza is a regular favorite at our house. I've been so tempted to get the Breville pizza maker appliance.

I do love a good NY slice though! There was a good place near me when I was living in Gainesville. Lily and I used to go have the slice and salad special when I lived alone and was too lazy to cook. Unfortunately now that I'm no longer in a college town, the good NY style slice places are further away, hence why I usually just prefer to make my own pizza.

Honestly this totally depends where I am at.

So for example, the Pizza Huts in North East Indiana are by far the most awesome places for Pizza. Seriously, they win several awards. They are nice and clean and great places to eat. Most of them have fireplaces inside which give you a great warm feeling when you go, they are all locally owned and cared about, these are still small town Pizza places and seriously fancy enough to go to on date night. You can get tons of pizzas not even on the menu at other pizza huts in the country.

Pizza Hut in Michigan, I am grossed out by. The pizza is terrible, places are not clean, I try one maybe once every other year and am disgusted every time.

Dominos, at least around here is the cheap place you get greasy crappy pizza on the cheap when you got a lot of people you don't really care about to feed.

There have a been a few great local places. But they seem to come and go. So for me it is Papa Johns, or Papa murphy's, which Pap murphies is like the subway of pizza. You walk up they get you exactly what you want but they do not cook it, you have to go home and cook it.

Authentic Italian food is just the best!!! I always think it's funny when Italian-Americans visit Italy and are shocked that their "Italian" favorites don't taste the same and they don't like it. So many of the ethnic foods we know and love here are American dishes lol.

In college in the 1990s, I had a professor who was from Italy. When relatives came to visit her, they were aghast at American pizza. "That's peasant food!" was her common comment.
