Where do you get your pizza from?

We had a bit of a debate last night. We are offenders of getting the BBQ Chicken from Domino s but I would prefer getting my pizza from local homemade type place. My other half doesn't go for it most of the time. On the other hand she does make an nice homemade pizza herself.

Do you order from a franchise, mom and pop place or just make your own?
    Thanks Everyone!!

Oh yeah, the local mom and pop place, which is more like local Italian guy and his friends and relations place. Love the crust and varieties, you can get it by the slice or a whole pie. They usually have 20 or more pies, all different types, on display to buy by the slice. I can make a tasty pizza but it's so much easier to drive 5 minutes down the street and be able to choose from such variety!

It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. Real pizza is one you eat by the slice. You pick it up, fold it in half, and eat it with oil running down your arm. It should be served on a paper plate. If you're feeling extra health-conscious, you can blot the pizza with some napkins to soak up the extra grease.

I grew up in New York so to me, real pizza means a mom-and-pop shop, and it should just have sauce and cheese. All the other stuff people put on pizza was crazy to me; why cover up the taste of the pizza?

Then I moved out of New York and discovered how rare it is to get true pizza. There's one mom-and-pop place about 30 minutes from us that can do good pizza- if the right worker is working! Otherwise I've learned it's safest to go with a chain and put some toppings on it to make it edible. I still call such things 'pizza food' rather than pizza.

Don't get me started on how Wolfgang Puck/California Pizza Kitchen/Mellow Mushroom are abominations to pizza. They can be yummy, but they are NOT, in my NY mind pizza.

Back when I used to be able to eat pizza (yum!!!), we always got it from Vocelli's (not sure how spread out the franchise is). The flavors were great, everything tasted fresh, and...the biggie for me...it wasn't greasy.

I've actually really taken a liking to the Newman's Own uncured pepperoni pizza with the crispy crust. I'm not picky when it comes to pizza. As long as the crust isn't wet and mushy I'm good! However, I do not really like the chain pizza places (Dominoes, Pizza Hut, etc.) with exception of Papa Murphy's. I'll eat it, but I wouldn't purchase it. Kinda how I feel about pizza in general...

I love Pizza Hut. I have no idea why. I guess I'm a sucker for entering the free cheese sticks code each time and receiving heavenly cheese sticks with my order. Now I'm drooling...

But I usually end up making my own pizza (either making dough or using store bought dough). Alton Brown has an excellent recipe for pizza dough (Alton Browns Pizza Dough Recipe) that is my go-to.

We don't have many places in the area...except this one family owned restaurant about 15mins away. Omg. It is to DIE for. I would classify it as an Italian restaurant (they serve pasta and meatball subs as well), but their pizza is so good. They serve rolls with your meal no matter what you order, so you walk out feeling 10lbs heavier than when you walked in!

Good pizza is very hard to come by. I'd love to travel to NY one day and try one of their many pizza places!

Yum pizza! Im always on the hunt for a good pizza place. We try a new place about once a month. I prefer the small places, the pizza tends to be better but ill eat Pizza Hut or whatever. I like the bbq chicken pizza from dominoes too with ranch

Lately, it's been mom and pop. They make a good pie and the four topping is very reasonably priced. They use local tomatoes and of course this is tomato season.

We've often made our own, making our own dough and usually forsaking tomato sauce for a base of basil pesto or roasted garlic. Sometimes when weather permits we grill it.

Many moons ago I worked for a regional pizza chain, Mr. Gattis. When the usual concoctions got really old I tried a sauce-less pizza. The base cheese for pizzas was smoked provolone, and holding the sauce really brought out the cheese. Gattis did subs too so sometimes I tried sub toppings - salami, ham, Swiss cheese - and they were interesting.
