My life feels a litle like a country song right now...

    Ugh. Just ugh!!!

The last few months a work have been hellish. Just hellish! I had to miss dog school two weeks in a row, which just kills me. It's the highlight of my week. Thank god for good friends that are happy to stop by and take care of the boys on their way home from work when I realize I am working late and can't ask the dog sitter to swing by. One of my friends did my dishes when she was over. So sweet of her!

Linus has a urinary tract infection. Not sure if it's getting any better since I've been home so much with THE FLU so they are in and out all day anyway. I guess that's good though, that I'm home and he can flush out his system better. And, because I was so sick and contagious, I had to miss ANOTHER night of dog school.

Then, I won a lottery for a highly coveted gold spot in Denise Fenzi's online academy for heeling games, which would be perfect because I also won a lottery for her heeling seminar in January and this class would be finished by then. Before I signed up and paid, I looked over the syllabus and realized that I can't do it. I need space and the only space I have is my backyard which is wet but I also don't see it in the daylight except for on weekends. If I had a Papillon I might be able to do some of it in my house. So, I had to give it up. It did make someone else's day though.

My parents came over to help me work on baseboard trim for my house yesterday. About an hour before we called it a night, I noticed that the trim has a top and a bottom -- top is rounded, bottom is square. Who knew? The good news it that we only put in two pieces upside down. Baseboard trip = nightmare! Especially with two people who don't really have a clue what they are doing.

Finally...my furnace crapped out yesterday, but I didn't notice until last night. We were in and out of the house with the trim so I turned the heat to very low. The house registers COLD and the furnace doesn't turn on. It only turns on when I manually place it at 85 degrees and doesn't turn off. The furnace had all year to crap out, but no, it has to do it when we are expecting SNOW. Which is a big deal in my part of the world -- like breaking news. So, I can't really leave my house for more than a couple of hours. Naturally, I have meetings today from 9am to 3pm solid and I haven't heard back from the furnace guy yet. Luckily I can work from home though it's not ideal on a day like today.

OK, rant over. I need to get to work.

Oh gosh. Definitely sending some mojo your way.

I know it's a little late now, but could you go to a local park or a friend's backyard and work with the dogs?

It's an online class, so you have to video your sessions and send them in for review. You need light as well as space. You get homework then feedback. You send in several videos per week. It's $260 for the six-week class, so you definitely do not want to half-a$$ it! They have a lottery system because so many people try to sign-up for the gold spots (only 8 per session) and not everyone can be at their computers when registration opens due to work or that it's at 3AM their time or whatever. Sometimes everyone trying to sign up will "break" the network. So, they went with the lottery system. The homework is a weekly deal so you aren't necessarily able to videotape only on the weekends, otherwise, you'd be behind in class. To do this, I'd need to rent out our local training facility three times per week to video and practice which is not feasible as it would be three hours three times per week with the commute and I just don't have that capacity for six weeks.

In the summer when I am home during the week in the daylight, it won't be a problem. Maybe I'll get lucky and win the lottery a second time!

And yes, these are definitely first world problems. For the most part. Except for Linus' UTI. Just needed to whine a little. Thanks for humoring me.

Sorry about how things are going right now.

One time when my furnace wasn't working it was just the filter needing to be replaced. I hadn't had a high efficiency furnace before and found out I should try and change the filter as that can be the problem. It wasn't even that dirty but changing it did the trick.
