I wasn't even born yet, but I do remember the " under the desk drill". Being born and raised in Las Vegas and the NV test site, we had those drills. So, ur old Bamps.
I posted this on a different web site and no one remembered (too young) or gave a rat's behind but on The 22nd Nov, 1963, I was in school. We went to my favorite thing about school, (recess, lunch and go home time) recess and on returning to the class, the teacher announced that the President of the United States had been shot. We did the ol' get under the desks drill, (like that would actually help), in case it was the Soviets and they sent bombers over too to drop nukes on us. We then went out front where they dropped our flag at half staff and we all recited the pledge of allegiance. Then the busses rolled up, we all loaded up and went home. We were out the entire week. The 35th president, John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Tx that morning and was buried on the 25th Nov., 1963 at Arlington National Cemetery.
Am I the only old coot that remembers that day? I know Nixon couldn't remember what he was doing, but anyone else?

Even though i was in Pre-kindergarten, i do remember! I remember the teachers were crying and my mom was crying when I got home! I remember mostly my confusion because so many adults were crying and I had no experience in dying.

I was in my eighth grade social studies class...all I remember "doing" was getting the announcement.

I certainly remember. I was 15. But the thing is, what sticks in my mind the most, are the photos of Jackie in the plane, returning to DC. And she stood there while Johnson was sworn in as President, in that blood soaked pink suit. I don't know why that visual is so vivid to me. We were all caught up in the Kennedy Camelot and I guess it was the horror of seeing that beautiful family suffer such a tragedy.

I remember. I was little, but the horror of the grown ups was memorable, as was what seemed like days of sadness and then watching the funeral and John-John's salute. I never saw that vulnerability of the nation again until 9/11, when I was trying to be the grown up for my kids.

I vividly remember. Was in school when it was announced over the PA. I remember the complete silence in the room and then hearing quiet sobs. Living just outside DC, the events of that day and those following consumed what was aired on TV. It seemed all so unreal and confusing. I did not cry until I saw Black Jack when tears flowed.

I was in kindergarten, and I remember the day very well. I remember my family watching the funeral on TV. I remember feeling the weight of a great sadness.
Every year on 11/22, I ask all the people I work with if they know what happened on this day in history. Those on my generation usually know. The young ones rarely know. It's sad how such significant historical events can slide into obscurity onto a page in a history book, and rapidly forgotten shortly after the test is taken.
