    Would Appreciate Some Good Thoughts

Since surgery my time outside has consisted mainly of trips to the doctor or PT. I have attempted a few trips in the back yard but the unlevel surface concerns me especially with Mardi's little dig holes hidden under leaves.
I'm not used to be "caged" in the house and I don't like it at all.

Yesterday, DH took me to the Exchange and Commissary. What a joy to be out! Got a little shopping done, restocked the frig and pantry, not that DH has not been doing this all along. By the time we were finished, I was finished too. DH was worried I did too much. Came home and rested a little and actually the hip felt more limber and very little discomfort.

Today is my 6 week post surgical checkup. Maybe, just maybe the doctor will give me the OK to drive. Oh, only if I could I could do short shopping trips at nonbusy times; certainly not this weekend. It would lift my spirits so much, just the thought of being let off leash. The key is probably going to be pain control which I am managing daily with just Tylenol only using the prescription med at night. Can't drive under the influence of the prescription pain med.

If you could spare a few good thoughts that the doctor deems me fit enough to be set free I would certainly appreciate it.

Best wishes...but still, take it easy! Even if you are given the OK!

This sounds so familiar but the OH's recovery time was in summer. He could sit in a lawn chair in the shade outside. Even so, he'd see something out there he'd want to do, and he's the type to drop everything and do the new thing, so it was still pretty frustrating for him. The few things he tried to do tired him out so much. Even though his surgery was different the walking was still a problem, one little jolt on his tender gut would incapacitate him. Ever wonder why the word "patient" has two meanings? Please be a patient patient and don't chance a set back.

I'M FREE! Doctor is very pleased with the progress. He suggested driving around the neighborhood first to make sure of reflexes but muscle strength has come back very good. Dr appointment was at 1:15, PT at 3:30. Since they are in the same building, after finishing with the Dr asked if they would check with the therapist just in case she could take me early. She had a 2 pm cancellation so no going home to just turn around and go back. Only problem, I always take a half of a pain med before PT. Boy did I feel the workout today! Reps are being increased and new exercises being added.

Will probably stay in tomorrow, rain predicted. Friday need to go to the post office and bank, both of which are close and that will be all for one day. Don't plan to go to any stores during all the craziness.

What a huge relief. Now I really feel I'm making progress.

Thank you all for the good wishes - they worked.
