Tell her to hang in there. I (Jeannie) fell and broke my fibula right at the ankle, a metatarsal, dislocated my ankle ankle and ruptured the ligaments in my ankle. I did this on December 22nd. I had surgery the next week and hopefully get my cast off tomorrow and progress to a walking boot. It is a long road and it is painful. I hope she heals well.

Oh, damn, damn, damn. I am so sorry IW. Ouch. I just hate that whole crunch, pop, pain thing that happens when you (or someone you love) falls down. Such a sick feeling.

Physiologically speaking, immediately after surgery, Lisa will be in a catabolic state, where the body will be increasing it's level of intrinsic amino acids. But at the same time, the surgery will result in more acute pain. Which is another way of saying, less meat in the stew and more brandy for the first few days post-op is recommended. No matter what the doctor and pharmacist tell you, I think opiates and ethanol are a great combination. So vicodin and brandy are perfect.

    That's my professional recommendation.

    Bless you both.

I'm not sure if I missed an update but was wondering how your wife is doing. Did she have surgery yet?
