Catch me in them outside the house - never.
I'm with you with boots and long shirt/tunic/dress i think it's a cute outfit (one I wish I could wear - my body just isn't porpotioned for it). but they are less "pants" in those cases.

I'd point out that under certain lighting conditions, those black yoga 'tights' are basically see-through.
A couple of years ago DW and I went to an Orioles game. After the game was over we were walking down Conway St to where our car was parked. In front of us was a lady in a pair of black yoga pants, and you could clearly see her panties. Not good.

It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. Could have been worse though, right?

Here, anybody who isn't wearing real long underwear today, well concealed under layers of warm clothing, is nuts.

    I hope it wasn't a thong. Oh the humanity . . .

One of my coworkers (teacher) wears this pretty green maxi dress sometimes. I don't think she knows you can see through it - one day in the computer lab we were testing some kids and I clearly saw a thong not good....I don't know her well enough to tell her!

I was all rage-y about "leggings aren't pants" and then a friend told me how the local middle school had a "no leggings" policy- but only enforced it with girls who were heavy or more developed. Skinny girls were never, ever, reprimanded. Once we start body shaming or saying "If you are attractive by our cultural standards, then you can wear it"- I can't get on board with that.

I do agree that anything see-through, exposed camel-toe (ewww), too small, or that's labeled as UNDERWEAR should not be worn by anyone.

I will admit to very occasionally wearing leggings out of the house, but ALWAYS with a long shirt or sweater that more than covers the butt! I have 2 pairs of knit pants that are a much heavier material than the actual leggings that i love! they are sooo comfortable, they have a zipper, one pair has back pockets, one has cargo type pockets. but i still pair them with longer shirts or sweaters. I actually have multiple pairs of "jeggings" from Costco, made by Calvin Klein or the like, they are a stretch denim, some have a zipper, some are pull-on. they are almost as comfortable as leggings, and certainly are a "normal" pant, the material is heavy enough that when they're hanging in the closet, you wouldn't know without grabbing them and really handling them that its not traditional denim.
Yoga pants and bra tank tops with a zip up shell or cardigan are my go-to lounge wear in the evening. I did venture out of the house to some girlfriend's house dressed in yoga pants, bra top, and a lovely flowy longsleeved cotton knit cardigan type thing one evening. I got there, and they were both like hey, how come you're so dressed up! hmmmmmm, since when did workout clothes mean dressed up?!? must mean my normal jeans and top aren't as tidy looking as i thought!
