80 oh wow I dont' even want to think the kind of damage done when an accident happens. You know trucks are going to go more then the posted limit for them they do it now - very scary for me anyway.

I was thinking the same thing! If that is the posted limit what speed are many of the cars/trucks actually traveling? Scary...

Actually many of the semi trucks out here have governors (I think that's what they are called) set at 60mph max. The truckers were not speeding... some were getting sleepy by the looks of things at times though.
When you are in wide open, rural areas, there really is light traffic. The 80mph made sense to me. All was fine... guess you just have to live in an area where traffic is not the norm to appreciate it!

you know, i read this thread when it started, and had a thought about police shooting the dog that was barking.... Scout would be the barking one...and that scares me. Esp since he is often in the truck. He's not loose, and couldn't get out, but how would they know that..

To top it off, got home tonight, and found a Red Light Camera ticket in the mail.... great. $325. and it says right all over the ticket that paying it pleading guilty will not mean demerit points or any history on your DL. REALLY makes me convinced that red light cameras are simply a municipal money grab. They were supposed to post that there were cameras when they got re-approved. Not that that would make a difference to me - it was about 2 weeks ago, that last nasty snowy slippery freezing rain morning. I was trying to stop. the van in front slid into the intersection, i tried to stop and had the same thing start to happen to me, so let up some and into the intersection. literally from their reported "timing", it was red for 0.04 seconds before i crossed the crosswalk, and 1.01 seconds before i was mostly thru the intersection. You can clearly see my brakelights in all the photos, and clearly see the van right in front of me a little sideways in the intersection, then thru it in front of me, as well as the van in the lane beside us (covered in snow by the way) managing to stop mostly thru the crosswalk.
I think this one is worth arguing.

One of the perks of AAA (American Automobile Association) is (or used to be; don't know) to map out routes for members. When going through GA, the maps would purposely take a route around certain towns, longer route, because of the incidences of people being pulled over and ticketed and supposedly they were not going over the speed limit.

One thing around here, the speed limit can change every mile or two. It's crazy. Within a 2 mile range to the grans school, it goes from 40 to 50 to 55, back to 45 for half a mile then 40 and then within another half a mile down to 30. Police love to sit at the bottom on a hill where up the hill it's 50 and less than a quarter mile, down hill, it's 40. This is all on the same 4 lane road. For goodness sake, pick a speed. It's not like the road is going through a town or a more populated area.

thats exactly what happened where I got ticketed! What is the need for 30 to 55 to 40 to 45 to 30 to 40 to 30 to 55 all within 5 miles?!
