Thread: Assisted Dying

    I think I will update this, it might help someone. As most in Canada will wonder, this was not the assisted death we are reading about and hearing about. Legislation has not been passed for that yet. The people who have already had an assisted death have had a lot of media coverage and got special dispensations.

    OH found out that what happened is legal and really, much simpler. As said earlier, the man has had cancer for many years and his body just couldn't go on any more. His Doctor did help, the man was getting morphine for pain. He was given morphine but then he removed his breathing aids himself. I'm not sure exactly what they were, a nose tube, a mask or what. But basically he went to sleep and just stopped breathing. Apparently quite gentle and peaceful. His wife was with him.

    This is second or third hand information, OH and a group of friends got together last week, it might not be completely accurate. I guess I will ask nurse Sis about it at Easter.
