Ugh! I am so happy I don't live in the desert any more.

Reminds me of a friend who told me she only hated 3 kinds of snakes...

    Live snakes
    Dead snakes, and
    Pictures of snakes.

Nice photo, but snakes in general?

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Ah, no thanks. A nonvenomous snake, IF it has a huge sign on it saying it's nonvenomous, is about all I can tolerate. Oh, Grandpa had a huge black snake in his barn for mouse control. It would get out of our way in a hurry but always scared the heck out of me.

The less snakes I have to deal with the better.

We aren't in the desert, but the dogs and I did walk past a baby copperhead on our walk through the woods yesterday. I didn't even see it, but my dad was with us and he saw it and disposed of it.

Last summer, I ran over and killed a HUGE copperhead with my Mustang. (The thump under the tires was astounding.) I joked with my husband that this was my way of working up to a Cobra.
