    I had something similar last year and it took a while to completely recover. Wishing you better health very quickly.

    Your mention of cough syrup with codeine reminded me of Cheracol.

    There is some truth in alcohol for medicine, much like the codeine it lightens your mood or makes you tired so you rest.

    Of course codeine also helps with coughing.
