Anyone Near Virginia Beach?

Need to get a title search done on a piece of property. Yep, it's the same one that DH inherited from his mother and we want to sell it. Tired of paying taxes on an empty lot we have no plans to do anything with. I don't want to just take a stab in the dark with what's listed on the internet.

Last time we went to sign it the buyers realtor said the sale did not go through because of some hiccup with the title. However, the county records show no such problem. Need to get this cleared up and unload it.

I'd offer my SIL's help, but she's still adjusting to widowhood and right now is crazy busy with the younger kids, in fact right now i think she's visiting other family. Mom and Dad will be back down there in the fall, if you've no luck by then, they'd be happy to do some running around/searching for you- they enjoy that kind of thing!

Are you working with a closer? I would recommend it as they do all of that work for you and ensure that the deal goes through. We really needed our closer for the purchase of the new house-there were issues that we didn't know about that our closer fixed!

No, we are not working with a closer. We tried selling it a year or so ago and there seemed to be some hiccup in the title search. However, the realtor was a real flake and not being in the area it was hard to run down all the necessary stuff. Plus, we now find out the evaluation of the land and it's way higher than what the previous realtor was trying to sell it for. And, the area has changed, improved. Figured we get all this paperwork/research out of the way before trying to sell it again.
