When you have your own place, you could catch problems like this before they actually cause any real problems. Most people around/my age here don't even change the airfilters, let alone tell the condtions of ac coils or issues with pipes.

Shouldn't the landlord be doing that?

Yea, the landlord buys them and drops off air filters every other month, and we just need to pop them in. ac coil thing is people just run their ac 24/7 and it causes them to freeze since the machines are old. the landlord has told us this before so he just says not to do that. but people still do it.

I suppose some people don't care about consequences of lack of maintenance when they don't own the place because they don't have to pay for it when it breaks! That can be frustrating. I rented forever and always treated the place, well, like I was borrowing it from someone else, even though I paid to be there.

I'm the same way I treat the apt like I would treat my own home.

I'm sorry. I hated that kind of thing when I rented. The worst I heard though was a friend who came home and found bullet holes in her interior walls from the neighboring apartments. This happened twice. I hope management can take care of your neighbor.

I'm sorry! Definitely a crummy way to spend the day. I hope it gets taken care of quickly.

Man that's just a rotten deal. Hate that. Hope they get it all worked out for you.

Neighbours are going to cause you problems where ever you are, rent, own, whatever. We've found the renters next door to all be better neighbours than the two sets of people who have owned the house. But this might not have been your neighbour's fault at all? Pipes break, loosen, leak. Doesn't matter, it still needs to be cleaned up and it's not your fault, hope this is resolved quickly.

Hopefully management takes care of any repairs quickly before it molds or anything. We've had the same thing happen luckily it was in our bathroom but it took a few times before they called a plumber to fix fix it.
