    Asparagus Beans

These things are hilarious. I'm definitely planting more next year.

One of our neighbors back at another house used to grow those but I never tasted them. He called them Chinese Long Beans. Do they taste like asparagus? I think one bean, broken up, would be about one serving. Is their texture about like regular green beans?

I'm munching on one right now. It's a little turnipy. Less sweet than my other beans. The texture is slightly rougher too. Keep in mind though that we've been in a drought so either of those properties might be a little off. I would definitely snack on them raw like a carrot though and feed them to my dogs.

Also, my plant was tiny compared to the yield. I would say there was more bean than plant.

Those look interesting. I just looked them up and the site says they are most productive in hot weather. It was very hot here this summer so maybe I will try some next year. Apparently they are also called Chinese Long Beans, and Yard Long Beans. I like the curl they have in the photo. I could tease Oban by wrapping one round his neck.

I can picture it now. The question is, how long would it take him to get hold of it and eat it?

I gave mine to the dogs. They snarfed them right down.
