Congratulations. I just adopted a black lab from a local shelter last week myself, she's been great. Good luck with your new pup.

Well after 2 nights, I'm very pleased. First night he cried a little when I put him in his crate but last night, no problem. The previous owner certainly worked with this dog as he knows the sit command, down and a little of the stay command. Going to work with him on these. According to the paper work from the rescue group, he knows the 'come-come' command with hand signals. Also some water retrieval commands. Can't wait to try these 2 out when we go to a local hiking trail that has a lake.

He has lot's of energy so going to walk him 3 times a day. Two short ones and a late afternoon long one. Just gave him a kong with a treat inside so he is occupied for now.

Here is a pic from today's hiking trip. Enjoying a little water time. Truly a good dog. A big guy but very gentle.

Well......I think he has adjusted to his new surroundings very well. Looks like he owns the joint.
