Tractor Supply - 4 Health?

Tractor Supply - Anybody feed 4 Health? It seems like pretty good stuff for the price but it is new and I can't seem to find much info on it. I bought a bag of the chicken type.

It's a new-ish Diamond product.

While I'm not a fan of Diamond products; it's not a bad food for the price range. Several members here feed Diamond with superb results.....I say try it if it happens to be one of the better foods in your area.

I know we live in a town of only 50 people, a real old town that time forgot, is how we describe it. We live along an old railroad from back in the early 1900's; trains were the only source of travel from these parts as well as the only source of shipments of livestock in/out of the area. Out of the 20 houses that are here; ours including 2 others are the only ones built within the last 15yrs; everything else was built in 1900-1920.

We live 7 miles from the nearest feed/tractor co-op supply house; that town itself only has roughly 30 houses too; so there's not much demand in these parts; these 2 towns are over 50 miles away from the nearest standard size town that actually houses a few Walmarts, Petsmarts, etc.

The feed store only carries Redbarn, or something like that, for dogs; consisting of meat and bone meal, soybean hulls, etc...crap like that for around $20/35lb bag or so; the food you're mentioning sounds a lot healthier for sure.

For us, I drive 60-70 miles twice a year for our gangs food; which might become more frequent, as we're seriously considering another retriever or australian shephard.

That truly is a small town. What do you do for a job in an area that small? I'm not a big fan of ordering food online because of the freight cost, but might be feasible in your situation.

As far as this product is concerned, looks similar to others recommended here. But the calorie count is low, only 327 kcal/cup.

Yeap....it's small alright. I'll have to get pics up sometime. This town, in the 1920-1960's I'm sure was quite active; there was a general store that's since either been completely removed, or it burned down, the old gas burning stove still sits on the lot where the store sat...which is very odd and strange looking.

There is a building that's used for community gatherings once a month or so, it's the old Legend hall building; the tiny post office is connected and is actually open 6 days a week.

For work, I'm an underground utility locator; i.e. I'm the one that if you're digging in your yard you'd call me to locate your electric, phone, gas, etc lines so you don't hit them. My job requires me to drive anywhere from minimum 140-300 miles a day; I primarily do locates in Parker, CO which is 50 miles from me; but I also do locates everywhere in between where I live and into Parker and surrounding counties.

So, in retrospect, I drive minimum 100 miles to/from work daily; but the cost of living is a LOT cheaper out here; there are no community HOA dues, telling me what I can and can't do, the water is cheaper, electricity from our house in Parker to where we live now is over $175 dollars cheaper, and our house payment is $600 for a very large (for it's price) 1500 sq ft house with 3 bdrm/2 bthrm's on an acre that's been completely remodeled, all new floors, appliances, furnace, etc.

Our house payment in Parker for a 1560 sq ft house on 1/2 acre was around $2200; water was more then double of what we pay here, etc.....that was actually our dream home, very beautiful area of Parker, up in the heavily Pine treed area.....but, it just got to where we couldn't afford it anymore and actually lost the house not even a year ago.

It's pretty cool out here though, you don't have to worry if your dogs are barking they aren't bothering a soul; only thing is, if you need groceries, make sure you get them while you're in town cause if you get snowed in, you're on your own.

I cross at least 3 dog food stores on a working daily basis, so if I need emergency dog food I do have access to it; my goal though is to keep the dogs morely on homecooked as much as I can afford to cause they seem to utilize the food better and I have control over what they get. I try not to allow myself to resort to the Cal Natural too much that I really do like, but at the same time, the dogs seem to do a lot better on the Honest Kitchen that I add ground turkey too and it seems to go further.

I will admit though that there are a lot of times I don't care to cook the turkey; but then I have to remember how much I actually enjoy homecooked meals too. They're not picky though, they'll eat anything that hits their bowls.

Funny though, we have wild turkeys out here that fly in/out of our yard all the time, think they like teasing the dogs. Rivers will bark and chase them as long as they're outside our fence, once they fly into the yard, he puts his head down and stands completely still....it's so funny to see. He's all bark and no bite...which is great, cause the fine for killing one is $1k.

Wow, a town of 50 people!! That is my dream (well maybe with 47 less people :-) I'd hate a 100 mile commute (I'm 5 miles from my office now) but I'd learn to cope.

As for the food the OP asked about, I'm also one of the "anti-Diamond" people BUT will say that ingredient wise it's better than much of the things available. The calorie count is low so I suspect it would require a higher feeding amount.

I havfe read about the lower cal count. Neither of my dogs are working right now so that should not be too much of an issue.

The drive in the beginning was a pain, only because of trying to keep regular working hours and getting moved in, etc..you know the drill.

In all honesty though, there's absolutely NO traffic to and from the house, we might see a total of 10 other cars total....it's a 2 lane 65mph highway all the way except a 9 mile dirt road that's so smooth you can usually travel it at around 50-55mph.

I drive a company truck, they pay for all the gas/maintenance, so I have no complaints there either. It really does make one stop, slow down and enjoy life more living out with the trees, creekbeds, plenty of horses, etc.
