    Swimming-treading water

Sofie fell in the pool (we were playing and she hit my leg and lost her balance) yesterday and I noticed she was just treading water and not really moving much After about 30 seconds I went in there to help her. After that I brought her in about 5 times and encouraged her to swim to the stairs. I did the same thing today and when she is submerged vertically she just treads water. How do I teach her to use her back legs more in order to swim? I'm glad she knows where the stairs are but I'm just worried she will just tread water to get there. She moves, but very slowly. Help! I'm a nervous dog mommy! She's only really fell once in years and swam out without my assistance.

you could try supporting her belly area to make her horizontal and she should start kicking. and just walk with her while she swimming.

Thanks, that's what I have been doing! I'll just keep it up every day. I give her a treat every time she exits and swims to the steps so I think with practice she will be fine!
