The trainers work straight out of their home where all their client's boarded dogs and board and train dogs stay with them just like they are part of the family. Continuing with crate training will be part of his training with them, as puppies in their care are crated at night (just like he is at our home) until they have proven proper house manners and potty training. All adult dogs sleep freely with them and their dogs as part of the family. They had a house full when we visited! And every single dog and puppy were so happy and well mannered. One of their personal dogs was a little boston terrier mix who was SO cute I wanted to steal him. :P They also personally own a labradoodle who I also wanted to steal. Must be on MY best behavior when visiting them too... HAHA. NO stealing, Jenna.

We also further discussed the ecollar training with them while we were there and I had a personal demonstration of the ecollar brand that would be included in the add on and it wasn't what I expected at all. We can see how incorporating that training, even if not all the time, could be helpful with Chutes so we are pretty sure we are going to add that in at a later time.

We reached out to and consulted with a handful of trainers and board and train programs and we are very confident in our choice. I'm going to miss Chutes so much when he leaves on Sunday for his two week summer camp (HAHA) but I feel really good knowing he's going to be in good care and learning lots of new things.
    Jenfarm,
How old is Chutes? Please do a follow up as I would be interested as to how much ye dog has learned within two weeks and what ye satisfaction level is in that regard. I wish ye and Chutes the best o' luck in training.

He will be 12 weeks when they take him. I'll definitely follow up and let y'all know how it goes and how happy or unhappy we end up. This first two weeks will be focusing on basic obedience, including house manners, door manners, sit and down (which we have been working on and he's got a pretty good understanding of already), loose leash walking, recall and "no." He'll also be introduced to "place" with an elevated bed, and "free" which will be his release command from any previous command. They don't use "stay" or "wait", they teach "free" as a release. When asked to sit or down, he's expected to automatically stay without having to command it until "freed."

We'll see how he does! They post a lot of pictures and videos on their Instagram, so maybe I'll try to share some of them if I can.

Whew. Well, we've had a busy week. DH finished his midterms last week (had 4 midterms). This last weekend was packed full of homework and prep for his lead auditor class this week so we'll have another busy week again. Chutes has been doing great at the trainers, so glad we decided to go ahead with it and not waste these two weeks of not having enough time to work with him. We miss him so much though! Can't wait to get him back this coming Sunday.

They've been putting up lots of photos and videos of him having a blast playing with all the big dogs (and cat - LOL) and some of his training sessions.

Relaxing with Milka, the Great Pyrenees (they did the same board and train with her when she was a pup and she's back this week), after dinner:

There is also two big German Shepherds and a big Doodle being boarded along with all of the trainers four big adult dogs and small dog. He has lots of new friends to place and socialize with.

Learning "place." "Hmmm... good things happen when I hang out on this weird thing..."

Bobs the cat giving Chutes a "POP" quiz on his "place" skills. Still stayed in place even with the cat playing with him. What a good boy!

Working on some recall with NO jumping:
    Oops... Fail.

What a good boy. (His little smile at the end. LOL. "I'm a good boy!")

Chutes is back from his board and train today and we are so happy! We missed him so much but they did such a great job with him. They commented on how smart he is and how great his confidence is. It's only the first day back so, of course, we'll see how it goes. Now it's up to us to not screw it up. LOL. They gave us a great foundation to go off of though and good instructions on how to continue forward until his next board and train for advanced. We'll have a follow up lesson with them in a few weeks to evaluate how Chutes and we have been doing and, of course, are available for any questions or clarification we have until then.

Overall, to this point, we are very impressed and very thankful for their help! They did a great job and we can tell how happy Chutes has been with the process as well.
