    New job and dog issues

Just started my new job. Work from home. Gigi is having a rough time with me around.

    1. Every time on a call .She starts to bark like crazy. If kept outside the room.

    2. Every time I am on the phone and she is in the room.she whines in the room to be let out and barks to be let in. The patio doors are near my desk.

    Any help or ideas

Also she does not let me stand in the house . She wants to go for walks , go out to play fetch , get a cookie some thing. So barks . I cannot have my morning coffee or even grab a snack with out being braked at.

I take her morning and evening walks totally 3 miles.
My wife plays fetch 2 to 3 times for 20 minutes with ball sling Chuck it toy.
She goes to dog park and runs like crazy 2 to 3 days once .

Now.my kids play fetch with her too....I mean she is active. We take her shopping ,hiking and camping .

I am.lost....She is perfect with my wife being on the phone and stuff.

Some dogs don't like change and adjusting takes time. Can she be crated in another area? Does she have a place cue? Can you give her something to keep her busy during calls, like a frozen Kong? Sounds like if you set up a routine for her, she'll be happier and more content.

When you were working away from home, where was Gigi during the day? Are your wife and kids home daily now also?
I work from home, but there are rules that are understood. If mine start to horse around and get noisy, I tell them to Knock it Off and they know they'd better or they'll be crated.

I worked at home the first year of Lucy's life, luckily she was pretty good when I was on the phone, but probably because she was brought into the house while I was already in that work pattern. At one point as a pup, she decided that the thing to do when I wanted to watch TV was stand between me and the TV and bark at me. The only thing that stopped it was a spray bottle of vinegar & water mix, heavy on the vinegar side. I know this may not be condoned any longer by the positive reinforcement theory, but it was quick and effective for us. You may also want to start working on the settle command, and encourage her to go to her crate or mat and calm herself, but this takes time, and you're on the phone trying to conduct business. So maybe work on the long term goal of settle and house manners on your off business hours, and have a quick solution for the really obnoxious behavior, if it works.

Phone: Pick up the phone and fake a short call, ignoring the barking. She'll get tired of that real fast.

Today she was better. Right now kids and wife are home. My mom is visiting too . So she is around.

So I am.working.on a schedule . Walk in the morning.play fetch in the afternoon and evening. My wife plays fetch before she goes out.
She is not crated any more.

I think when she has to go to the bathroom she barks. Again if no one around she can be left in house for 8 plus hrs. But with me around she wants to get out.

Ignoring the bad behavior doesn't work w/ many labs ime! In the old days, children were seen and not heard. I kind of still run on that mantra, lol. Mine are told to knock it off and I mean it when I tell them that. I really dislike pushy dogs, esp if I'm on the phone or trying to concentrate on work (which is necessary to pay for all their kibble and fun).

Agree we have 2 kids and even the 7 yr old jumps on my home computer after 5. I always felt she was pushy with me.

Today I took the small bottle of lavender and chased jer around athe house. We use lavender oil as a training tool as a puppy. Teething stages . So She remembers the smell and sharp taste.

    She quite down.

My real issue starts September 5 when my parents leave to india ,kids are back to school and my wife starts 5 am to 10 am new job. She will be back by 11 am.
